Sandwiches Return as Proven Winners

August 30, 2013 // Franchising.com // Dublin, Ohio – In response to consumers’ pleas, Wendy’s® is bringing back its Flatbread Grilled Chicken sandwiches for a limited time. First introduced in late March, Wendy’s Flatbread Grilled Chicken sandwiches redefined grilled chicken by layering bold flavor inside a toasted, multi-grain artisan flatbread. The reintroduction of Flatbread Grilled Chicken sandwiches comes at a time when consumers are looking for exciting flavors that are anything but flat.

Unlike some café-like places, Wendy’s Flatbread Grilled Chicken sandwiches are accessible, affordable and meet consumers’ needs for nutritious, high-quality ingredients. Available for a limited time, the sandwiches are offered in two bold flavors – Asiago Ranch and Smoky Honey Mustard.

In celebration of the sandwiches’ return, Wendy’s has launched a #6SecondsFlat digital campaign to give fans a platform to share their personalized taste tests. From now until September 29th, consumers are asked to taste one of the flatbread sandwiches and share their thoughts through a short video on Vine, Instagram or Twitter using #6SecondsFlat. Each week, participants will have the chance to win $6,000.

In fact, when we first introduced them, these sandwiches helped drive our premium chicken sandwich units to the highest levels in six years,” said Craig Bahner, Wendy’s chief marketing officer. “With #6SecondsFlat, we’re stepping up our digital innovation, too– tapping into the short-form video trend and giving consumers an interactive way to share their dining experience.”

Wendy’s Flatbread Grilled Chicken sandwiches feature the perfect five-grain flatbread and include all-white meat chicken, topped with a spring mix featuring nine different types of fresh greens, and hand-sliced tomatoes that are juicy and full of flavor.

The Flatbread Grilled Chicken sandwiches are another component of Wendy’s ongoing brand transformation initiative, which also includes menu innovations; the re-imaging of restaurants with a bold, contemporary look; an updated Wendy’s logo; new crew uniforms; consumer-preferred menuboards and packaging; and a completely overhauled Wendys.com.
