Tulsa Fit Body Boot Camp Offers a Complimentary Tabata Workout for People Interested in Trying High-Intensity Interval Training

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) June 05, 2014 - High-intensity interval training has become the latest trend in fitness and is offered in many variations. Tulsa Fit Body Boot Camp model is based on high-intensity interval training, which delivers a very demanding workout in a very short time. The original HIIT workout was created by a Japanese researcher named Tabata and Tabata workouts are typically the most intense. But they're not for everyone.

Stephanie Flynn, the owner of Tulsa Fit Body Boot Camp, explains the popularity of the Tabata workout. "Tabata is incredibly intense, but it delivers incredible results as well," she says. "People today want really fast results because we've become a 'now-now' culture. But people are also busier than they've ever been, so really short workouts fit more easily into their schedules.

According to Flynn, the ability to get a great workout in thirty minutes or less is what draws most people to the Tabata method. The original Tabata protocol was a very high-intensity cycle workout that only lasted four minutes but proved to have extremely impressive fat-burning and conditioning results, even better results than with a control group that worked out for forty-five minutes. Since Tabata's original research study, many variations of the concept have been created.

"The reason that Tabata is so effective is what's called the 'after-burn effect," explains Flynn. "In more scientific terms, this is Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC), or the amount of oxygen your burn after a workout in excess of what you would have needed otherwise."

That EPOC effect is what has made high-intensity interval training so popular, as that oxygen deficit has been shown in many studies to boost metabolism and burn fat much faster than traditional cardio.

"Every workout we do at Tulsa Fit Body Boot Camp has some elements of high-intensity interval training," says Flynn. "But we also offer Tabata workouts which are especially intense. Even though they get incredible results, they're not for everyone, so we're offering people a chance to come in and try one out as our gift so they can see if it's something they really want to do."

She adds that the fitness boot camp has many other classes to suit those for whom Tabata is a bit too intense.

Those trying the Tabata method for the first time are advised to wear very comfortable clothing and sturdy workout shoes and to bring water for before and after their workout.
