Mr. Electric® Celebrates 20 Years of Franchising

WACO, Texas (PRWEB) September 09, 2014 - Mr. Electric, a subsidiary of The Dwyer Group, Inc., will be celebrating 20 years as an electrical franchising company in the month of September.

The Mr. Electric franchise was founded in 1994 as the fourth company under The Dwyer Group franchising corporation. At that time, it did not have any name brand competitors and was the only company that provided national residential and commercial electrical services. The first Mr. Electric franchise was purchased by Mike Mulhman, who opened Mr. Electric of Waco, Texas.

"We founded Mr. Electric with the intent to bring the best possible electrical services to our customers," said Dina Dwyer-Owens, executive chairwoman of The Dwyer Group. "Mr. Electric is truly a one of a kind electric service provider that has the power to make things better. We are proud of their growth and commitment to their customers."

From there, Mr. Electric expanded and began operating in Canada in 1996. Steady international growth continued for Mr. Electric through the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 1997, Mr. Electric began operating in the United Kingdom followed by expanding into Australia in 2002.

"We launched Mr. Electric as the next installment in our plan to franchise trades related service brands, complementing Mr. Rooter® Plumbing and Aire Serv® Heating & Air as well as the founding company at The Dwyer Group, Rainbow International® Restoration," said Mike Bidwell, president of The Dwyer Group. "Today Mr. Electric is the world’s largest network of franchised electrical service providers. There is considerable brand appeal with the brand. Whenever we discuss international opportunities to business people in other countries, Mr. Electric is the brand they are most often drawn to." As consumers and businesses continue to become more energy conscious, we believe this will continue to bode well the business."

Mr. Electric has lead many initiatives for The Dwyer Group including investing in fully wrapped work vehicles rather than brand decals on franchisee fleets.

"Mr. Electric has seen a lot of changes in the past 20 years and they have brought great success to the brand," said Joel Worthington, president of Mr. Electric. We look forward to seeing what the next 20 years will bring and giving our customers the best overall experience."
