MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Raises $35,000 for No Kid Hungry

Funds Raised Will Help Provide Up to 350,000 Meals for Hungry Children

DALLAS (PRWEB) October 29, 2014 - MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes has announced that after a system-wide promotion and partnership with Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign, the company raised $35,000 to help battle childhood hunger. The Dallas-based fast-casual chain offered booklets of coupons for free food and dessert with each $5 donation going to the No Kid Hungry campaign between Sept. 8 and Oct. 5.

According to Share Our Strength, one in five American children struggles with hunger, meaning they may not know when or where their next meal will come and a $1 donation to the organization can help connect a child facing hunger to up to 10 meals *. Based on this, the $35,000 donation raised by MOOYAH will mean that up to 350,000 children in America will receive meals through the partnership.

"We are proud to provide this donation for such a worthy cause and help feed so many children in need," said Rich Hicks, Co-Founder and CEO of MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes. "The entire MOOYAH family came together behind the No Kid Hungry campaign and we were able to make an impact in our restaurants' communities across the country."

Every September thousands of restaurants across the country come together to raise money and awareness for No Kid Hungry, prompting millions of customers to donate to the charity at the point of sale in stores, via online and social-media sites, or by participating in local fundraising and cause-marketing events. Since 1984, Share Our Strength has raised more than $507 million through corporate sponsorships, events and donations. During that same timeframe, funds have been granted to more than 1,100 deserving organizations nationwide that are effectively helping feed kids.

"I'm constantly impressed with the passion that our franchise partners exhibit when given the opportunity to support a cause that means so much to so many people," said Natalie Anderson, Senior Brand Manager of MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes. "Families come first at MOOYAH, and childhood hunger is an unfortunate reality that all of our team members recognize as a cause worth fighting. Our entire system rallied behind the No Kid Hungry cause and went above and beyond to create awareness of the issue and raise funds that will provide meals for children who may otherwise go hungry."

According to Share Our Strength, donations add up to a large impact for hungry children in the United States. For instance, a $25 donation can help provide a month's worth of snacks to a child in an after-school program; $50 can help a family access nearly $900 in food assistance to make more healthful meals at home; and $100 can help deliver nutritious meals to a child in need for three months*.
