Madison’s BrightStar Senior Living Strives for Highest Standards with New Ownership

Entrepreneurs Jeff Tews and Susan Rather Bring Wealth of Experience, Knowledge to Local Aging Care Community

MADISON, Wis. - May 12, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - BrightStar Senior Living, BrightStar Care®’s newest brand, is proud to announce that its first ever location in Madison, Wis. has been put in the hands of successful BrightStar Care franchisees, Jeff Tews and Susan Rather. On March 1, 2015, the franchise license of the state-of-the-art senior living community in Madison was sold to the experienced husband-wife team.

The longtime franchisees were married for just a year before investing in their first BrightStar Care location in 2006. Since then, their in-home and medical staffing business has exploded into five locations, four of which are in Madison and throughout Wisconsin. These operations include 350 caregivers, 32 full time management employees who have served 5071 clients and their families with quality at home care and 188 medical facilities with staffing assistance. As a result of their seasoned business practices, leadership and passion in the senior care segment, Tews and Rather have been awarded the company’s prestigious ‘Franchisee of the Year’ twice, making them great candidates for investing in the first BrightStar Senior Living location in Madison.

The highly anticipated assisted living and memory care community has offered premier services to the local aging care population since being established in March 2014. Located at 6550 Schroeder Road in Madison, the building accommodates 34 residents in two households, with the entire second floor household being dedicated to memory care and dementia resident care. The community has been thoughtfully designed with both function and comfort in mind to provide care for individuals whose needs may be greater than what can be best managed at home. With the ability to cater to residents ranging from assisted living to those with complex needs, BrightStar Senior Living may be best summed up by its ability to offer the highest level of clinical excellence and support.

“Every aspect of BrightStar Senior Living, from the environment to medical care to daily enrichment activities, is geared toward providing our residents with the highest quality standards,” said Jeff Tews, Co-Owner of BrightStar Senior Living. “We’ve taken great pride in being able to offer a service that accommodates anyone’s needs, and it all starts with bringing together an exceptional staff.”

Indeed, BrightStar Senior Living has assembled an all-star team of qualified personnel. In addition to Tews and Rather’s leadership, Bonnie Banker spearheads daily operations as Executive Director with a successful track record in senior housing administration. As the Life Enrichment Coordinator, Maria Burud, has brought new options to residents such as pen-pal programs and a Music and Memory Project. Adding to the highly qualified leadership staff, Robyn Shearer, the Director of Health and Wellness, helps reduce some of the risks of aging such as weight loss, falls, illnesses and hospital stays.

Additionally, the BrightStar Senior Living staff also includes 24-hour a day RN Case Manager coverage, Resident Operations Manager, Executive Chef, dining staff and specially trained caregivers that bring the overall employee count to a roughly 40. The entire set of personnel was hand-picked not only for their skilled medical expertise, but for their level of commitment to BrightStar Senior Living’s highly person-centered approach. BrightStar Senior Living is benefited by the size of the community and staff that allows for plenty of familiarity and personal relationships.

“Our ability to offer skilled, personal attention is a valuable differentiator of BrightStar Senior Living. When other senior care organizations have difficulty accommodating complex medical cases, we can confidently say ‘yes’ and offer a better standard of living,” said Susan Rather, Co-Owner of BrightStar Senior Living. “With a growing senior population in our area, there’s an unbelievable demand for advanced care, including end of life and in times of extreme need.”
