The Dairy Queen® System Opens in Brooklyn

Opening is the fifth in New York City, with one in each borough, and creates more than 50 new jobs.

August 17, 2015 // Franchising.com // BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Dairy Queen® system has taken over New York City one borough at a time.

The category treat leader and Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B) company now has a presence in all five boroughs with the opening of the DQ Grill & Chill® restaurant in Brooklyn, located at 27 Graham Avenue. It’s the newest Dairy Queen restaurant in a family of more than 6,600 restaurants worldwide committed to offering every fan a place where they can relax and share a great meal and one-of-a-kind soft-serve treats.

The 2,300 square-foot DQ Grill & Chill restaurant in Brooklyn seats 56 Fans. The restaurant has added more than 50 new jobs, contributing to Brooklyn’s employment growth. The new restaurant also will contribute to the state’s restaurant sales which, according to the National Restaurant Association, are projected to increase by 3.6 percent this year.

“We are excited about bringing the DQ® brand to Brooklyn and we welcome the community to enjoy our full menu of cravable food items, signature and innovative treats, our new DQ Bakes!™ menu and Orange Julius® Premium Fruit Smoothies and Julius® Original drinks,” said restaurant operator Cheetah Liu, who also operates the DQ location in Corona, N.Y.

The menu at the Brooklyn DQ Grill & Chill restaurant features a range of food options for Fans, including the new DQ Bakes! menu, which features nine hot-from-the-oven and made-to-order items across three categories that will surprise and delight fans, such as Hot Desserts à la Mode, Artisan-style Sandwiches and Snack Melts.

Fans also will find all of their favorite treats on the menu, such as the iconic Blizzard Treats, DQ Cakes, a wide variety of other soft-serve items and a full line of beverages.

The Dairy Queen system has targeted New York City for future development as part of an overall growth plan to expand in top U.S. markets, bringing the iconic brand to fans that don’t yet have restaurants in their community.
