MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Raises More Than $45,000 for No Kid Hungry

Funds Raised During September Will Help Provide 450,000 Meals for Hungry Children Across America

DALLAS (PRWEB) October 15, 2015 - MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes has announced that after a system-wide partnership No Kid Hungry®, the company raised more than $45,000 to help battle childhood hunger, beating last year’s total donation. The franchise system gave 1 percent of nationwide sales at participating locations to the campaign during the month of September. And, during its “Bring Home the Bacon Week,” from September 21 to 27, the brand’s bacon supplier, Smithfield Foods, donated $5,000 to the cause on behalf of MOOYAH Guests.

According to No Kid Hungry, one in five American children struggles with hunger, meaning they may not know when or where their next meal will come, and a $1 donation to the organization can help connect a child facing hunger with up to 10 meals*. The $45,000 donation raised by MOOYAH will provide 450,000 meals for children in America through their efforts.

“MOOYAH is proud to be able to provide this donation for such a worthy cause that helps feed so many children in need,” said Rich Hicks, co-founder and CEO of MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes. “The entire MOOYAH family embraced the No Kid Hungry campaign, giving us the ability to make an impact in our restaurants’ communities across the country.”

Every September, thousands of restaurants across the country raise money and awareness for No Kid Hungry, prompting millions of customers to donate to the charity at the point of sale in stores, via online and social-media sites, or by participating in local fundraising and cause-marketing events. Since 1984, Share Our Strength has raised more than $528 million through corporate sponsorships, events and donations. The organization has also granted funds to more than 1,100 organizations nationwide that help hungry children.

“Families come first at MOOYAH, and childhood hunger is an unfortunate reality and a cause worth supporting,” said Natalie Anderson Liu, director of marketing for MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes. “Our entire system came together to not only raise funds to provide meals to hungry children, but to also create awareness of the important issue of hunger in America.”
