Dogtopia Looks to Mark Its Territory in Baltimore

Award-Winning National Dog Daycare Franchise Aims to Add 10 Baltimore Locations by 2019

March 21, 2017 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Dogtopia, the nation’s leading dog daycare franchise, is targeting the greater Baltimore area for growth. With three locations already open in the area, the leading pet franchise has announced it aims to open at least 10 additional locations through strategic franchise partnerships over the next two years, bringing more than 250 jobs to the area.

Already finding success in the market is Matt Moss, the current franchisee for Dogtopia of Clarksville. Having worked at the store throughout college, Moss was approached by the former franchise owners in December 2015 with an offer to purchase the location, as they were impressed with his ability to grow the business substantially and create a “new breed” of loyal customers in the community.

“We’ve established a tight-knit community at our Dogtopia location, providing much-needed care for dogs in the Baltimore area,” said Moss. “More people are becoming pet parents than ever before, and our mission is to create the most exciting day ever for pups while giving their parents peace of mind while they’re away, at work, or on vacation.”

Canines at Dogtopia enjoy an open-play environment with protective rubber flooring to ease joints, prevent slipping, and promote safer play, as well as a powerful HVAC system funneling air out of the building to ensure clean, fresh air. Dogtopia’s fees are all-inclusive with meals prepared according to each pet parent’s request at no extra charge, or pet parents can bring their own food.

With 45 locations across North America, the brand is now the largest franchisor of dog daycare in the United States and looks to become the daycare of choice in Baltimore. Targeted development markets throughout the greater Baltimore area include Catonsville, Cockeysville, Columbia, Ellicott City, Lutherville, Pikesville, Timonium, and Towson.

“The greater Baltimore region is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country, making it a prime location for Dogtopia to scale,” said Alex Samios, who oversees development for Dogtopia. “We’ve had excellent brand awareness in Maryland for more than 10 years and it’s time to build upon that credibility by attracting strong franchise partners who will bring the Dogtopia brand to new communities.”

Anticipating expansion to more than 400 units within the next five years, Dogtopia’s impressive growth has been noticed by Franchise Times magazine, who recently ranked Dogtopia as the “Best Franchise” (in pet category) in its March 2017 Annual Zor Awards. Dogtopia offers a viable franchise opportunity with multiple revenue channels for daycare, boarding, spa, retail, and training resulting in a proven and exciting lifestyle business. The company seeks both single and multi-unit franchise partners with proven business experience to join its franchise family.
