Home Franchise Concepts Celebrates 25th Anniversary with a Year of Commemorative Events and a New Home Office and Franchise Support Center

Leading franchisor will host Sept. 27 preview celebration of new location for its family of brands

Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft are now #1 in their categories with nearly 1,400 franchise territories

September 18, 2017 // Franchising.com // ORANGE, Calif. - Home Franchise Concepts (HFC) kicked off its year-long celebration commemorating 25 years in business as the world’s best-selling franchise family in the home improvement industry. The company is planning several key events, which include awarding a franchise to a Veteran on Nov. 11, 2017, the dedication of a new, state-of-the-art Home Office and Franchise Support Center in Irvine, Calif., in April 2018, and monthly Giving-Back Days to local community and national non-profit groups.

HFC is the franchisor of Budget Blinds®, Tailored Living® and Concrete Craft®, home-related goods and services brands that are consistently rated at the top in their respective categories and are supported by close to 1,400 franchise territories operating out of nearly 10,000 cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico .

Earlier this year, HFC announced an aggressive growth plan across its three brands for 2017, led by a most-ever 2.6 million window covering installations for Budget Blinds at a record pace of 50,000 per week. Since inception, the company is on track to hit 25 million window covering units installed by end of this year.

To prepare for this growth, the franchisor is outfitting a 38,094 square-foot space in MacArthur Plaza in Irvine, directly across MacArthur Blvd. from John Wayne Orange County Airport, to become the new HFC Home Office and Franchise Support Center. The new location will feature new management offices, interactive product displays, and state-of-the-art training, education and support facilities for its growing family of franchise owners.

“We’re celebrating our 25th year by investing in the products, people and programs that will enable us to lead the franchised home services industry for the next 25 years,” said HFC CEO Shirin Behzadi. “This year, 2017, represents a time of celebrating our past successes and of thinking big for the future. We’re telling our story to give a whole new generation of would-be entrepreneurs the opportunity to own their future through business ownership.”

Planned events include a Sept. 27 reception for franchise owners, vendors, partners and staff who have been instrumental in HFC’s growth. The company has partnered with various local nonprofit groups to organize a series of volunteer, “Giving-Back” days for HFC staff on (or near) the 25th of every month. National and local organizations include Working Wardrobes, Orangewood Children & Family Center, Home For Our Troops, Second Harvest Food Bank and Olive Crest, an organization to combat child abuse and preserve the family.

On Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, 2017, HFC will award a Veteran with a franchise business plus two-weeks training and operating capital of as much as $100,000. The program is the culmination of HFC’s There’s No Place Like Home Veteran Partnership and Giveaway, which asked HFC franchisees and its manufacturing partners to nominate a deserving former U.S. or Canadian military Veteran to be considered to receive a Budget Blinds, Tailored Living or Concrete Craft franchise territory.

HFC also established a GoFundMe site that invites the public to donate toward the goal of raising working capital for the awarded Veteran. For every dollar donated, HFC will match contributions up to $50,000, thereby potentially raising $100,000 for the Veteran. The Veteran Partnership and Giveaway initiative follows years of HFC support for Veteran programs, including Homes for Our Troops, Wounded Warriors Canada, Designing Spaces’ Military Makeover on Lifetime® Television, NBC’s George to the Rescue, and the HFC Million Dollar Franchise Event which awarded more than $1 million in franchise discounts to former servicemen and women.

Thanks to these efforts and ongoing discount programs, HFC has introduced hundreds of Veterans to business ownership to the point that Veterans now represent a sizeable percentage of the company’s franchise territories in North America.

The HFC Story

According to Behzadi, HFC’s origins can be traced back to 1992 and a big promise. “The intent was always to give people the chance to own their own future through the freedom of their own business that capitalizes on a growing trend, treats people right and offers the support necessary for long-term growth and prosperity.”

That promise became Budget Blinds, now the nation’s largest window coverings franchise. Within two years of offering franchises, Budget Blinds was ranked the #1 Window Coverings Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine, and has been ranked at the top every year since.

The brand that started it all has since grown into the leading custom window-covering provider in North America fueled by nearly 1,100 individually owned and operated franchise territories serving more than 10,000 cities across North America.

Using the successful Budget Blinds model, HFC launched a strategy to dominate the billion-dollar franchised home services industry with a growing portfolio of retail brands, a no-obligation initial consultation and the best warranties in the business.

Closet Tailors was introduced in 2007 and in late 2011 was restructured as Tailored Living, combining Closet Tailors and PremierGarage® into the country’s largest home organization franchise providing in-home organization, garage organization and flooring, and storage systems and solutions.

In 2014, HFC acquired the assets of All American Decorative Concrete, and formed Concrete Craft, the nation’s only decorative concrete franchise specializing in one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor surfaces for homes and businesses through a blend of leading brands, proprietary product blends and expert design consultation.

To leverage even greater growth beyond its core franchise base, in late 2015 HFC partnered with a private equity firm, Trilantic Capital Partners (Trilantic), to provide the resources necessary to expand existing brands and to acquire new brands across North America and establish a foothold in international markets.

Today, the HFC franchisee family consists of about 1,400 territories with owners ranging from 25-year pioneers and Millennials with a passion to own their own business to corporate refugees and seniors wanting a second career to entrepreneurial-minded Veterans who have successfully transitioned from military service to self-employed profitability.
