BODYBAR Pilates Tones Its Franchising Muscle with Strategic Expansion Strategy

Franchising is Core Component of Nationwide Growth for Reformer Pilates Fitness Concept

July 07, 2020 // Franchising.com // DALLAS – BODYBAR Pilates (BODYBAR) has firmed up the next phase of its growth strategy and has launched a franchising initiative to build on the momentum behind the brand.

The Reformer Pilates studio concept that has become a health and wellness hit in the DFW Metroplex is now catapulting the craze into new markets. Blending its focus on strength, toning and modern movement with a warm, welcoming, spa-like environment, BODYBAR creates a Pilates experience unlike any other. It is all centered on fostering a destination where a community of members can come together daily to maintain sound mind, body and spirit.

Today’s franchising announcement comes amid an already strong year for the brand, inking multiple franchise agreements to expand beyond the Lone Star State. In fact, BODYBAR has recently signed franchise agreements to open locations in new markets, including Atlanta, Salt Lake City and Boston. Plus, new units are planned in its home DFW market – Fort Worth, Keller and Southlake.

Halfway through the year, BODYBAR remains on target toward its goal of signing 25 agreements and 50 units before the end of 2020. Key expansion territories across the United States range from Austin, Houston and San Antonio in Texas to Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Tampa Bay and Salt Lake City.

“It’s incredible to be part of the BODYBAR movement…you can feel the enthusiasm it instills in everyone who takes part,” said Matt McCollum, CEO of BODYBAR Pilates. “We’re incredibly proud of the communities we’ve already built. But, the time is now to seize this energy and share the feeling that BODYBAR evokes with the nation.”

Matt, alongside wife Kamille, first became part of the BODYBAR family as franchise owners in 2015. Their success instilled confidence in BODYBAR ownership to approach the McCollums about taking over executive leadership of the franchise. At the time, Matt was a Master Franchisee with the Maid Right Franchise Group and understood how to properly maintain and grow a franchise system, so the McCollums accepted the offer and took over the company in June of 2019. The duo is guiding the brand’s growth and paving its franchise development path.

In order to provide franchise owners with a winning strategy, the McCollums have worked to perfect the BODYBAR business model, starting with the class format. Using core Pilates principals, each 40 to 50-minute BODYBAR Pilates class is designed to provide a full-body workout that is high-intensity, low-impact and perfect for increasing flexibility, muscle strength, posture and boosting overall health. Whether a member is a 70-year-old wellness guru, a 40-something working parent, or a 25-year-old who is just getting started, the BODYBAR workout can be customized to meet everyone’s personal fitness goals.

BODYBAR instructors are encouraged to use creativity in their delivery to ensure members experience classes that vary in routine and intensity. And, with 14 reformers in each studio, instructors have ample time to interact with the class and provide members with a personalized experience, while providing franchisees the highest earning potential per class among all Pilates franchises. Building on learnings from the recent pandemic, BODYBAR points out that they have always created a safe environment for clients to practice Pilates. From single-use equipment that is disinfected between each workout, to appropriate spacing of the reformers and ample time between classes BODYBAR takes public safety very seriously. Furthermore, it recently launched its virtual platform, BODYBAR Live. Those who do not feel comfortable returning to the studio, can book live streams on the platform or access pre-recorded classes on-demand. With the virtual class option and strategic number of reformers in-studio, BODYBAR franchise owners are able to maximize revenue and hold a competitive advantage over others in the Reformer Pilates space.

As BODYBAR builds its franchise system, it is seeking qualified franchise prospects eager to help fuel the growth of the emerging franchise. Ideal BODYBAR franchisees include entrepreneurs who have an interest in fitness and a pioneer mindset. They must see BODYBAR as an investment opportunity and recognize that investing in a smaller footprint means they can own a larger piece of the market.

The moderate investment range for a BODYBAR Pilates studio is a $200,000 to $400,000 and prospective owners must have a minimum of $100,000 in liquid capital to be considered. BODYBAR provides franchisees with comprehensive opening training and support as well as ongoing guidance to ensure the continued success of their business.
