Design District Pioneer BoConcept Celebrates 20 Years in Georgetown With Discounts at its Washington, D.C. locations from May 21–31
Local multi-unit franchise owner Tim Machenaud is extending the discount as a way of thanking the D.C. community for two decades of loyal support.
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) May 19, 2021 - To celebrate its 20th anniversary in Washington, D.C., contemporary Danish furniture retailer BoConcept is offering discounts to locals at its Georgetown and Tysons Galleria locations. Area franchise owner Tim Machenaud said the celebration sale is his way of thanking the community for 20 fantastic years in Washington, D.C.
“We are so proud that the business has been here all these years in Georgetown, which led to our expansion to open in Tysons Galleria two years ago” said Machenaud. “We're very happy to be able to serve customers in D.C., and we want to share that feeling and appreciation with them through these special discounts.”
This BoConcept store at 3342 M St. NW in the Georgetown Design District was an early pioneer on the street when it opened in 2001. “I guess it was quite risky at that time, but it’s paid off,” Machenaud said. Today, the Design District is regarded as a popular shopping destination by locals and tourists alike.
Machenaud purchased the Georgetown store five years ago from the original franchisee.
“I still remember the first piece of furniture we sold after I purchased the Georgetown store,” he said. “It was 7 p.m., and we had just closed the store. I saw these clients on the other side of the window show up five minutes after we closed, and they were looking at the bed that we had in the window. So I opened the door and said, ‘Hey, come in, we're still here. If you want to see the bed up close, we’ll wait.’ And that led to my first sale in August 2016.”
Born in Paris, Machenaud’s family moved to D.C. when he was 12 and lived there for five years. Machenaud returned to study international business at the University of Maryland. After leading BoConcept’s presence in France, he was eager to open his own store and jumped at the opportunity to buy the Georgetown location. Machenaud had previously worked for other high-end retailers, in addition to serving as a franchisee for another furniture brand in Spain.
“I’ve worked as a franchisee and I’ve worked at three different franchisors, so it has been a great experience for me to be on both sides of the equation,” he said. “It allows me to appreciate the franchise we have with BoConcept and the amazing level of support we get from the brand. It's great to know that we're not alone, and we have a franchisor that is creating tools to help us be stronger and to help us train and grow our teams.”
