First Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii Location in Kentucky Opens this Week

August 03, 2021 // // LEXINGTON, Ky. - A warm Hawaiian breeze will blow into Kentucky this Thursday, Aug. 5 as Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii opens its first location in the state at 685 S. Limestone, in the newly constructed Hub on Campus Limestone apartment complex near the University of Kentucky and University of Kentucky medical campus in Lexington.

When visiting the new Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, guests can expect to receive a warm “Aloha!” greeting and enjoy a relaxing experience full of Hawaiiana sights, sounds and aroma of delicious Hawaiian and other international coffee blends. In addition to premium Hawaiian coffees, the full beverage menu includes signature lattes, cold brew, popular blended espresso drinks and teas. The food menu also serves up various Hawaiian inspired items including delicious breakfast and lunch sandwiches served on KING’S HAWAIIAN™ bread.

Guests can also purchase retail bags of Bad Ass Coffee to brew at home or the office including 100% Kona, 100% Hawaiian Coffees, Hawaiian Blends and other Signature Blends.

Bad Ass Coffee originated on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Its name pays tribute to a very important animal in Hawaiian coffee history: The Donkey. Legend has it that for generations, the donkeys of Kona, Hawaii could be heard bellowing as they carried precious loads of coffee beans down the steep mountains of the Big Island. The native people of Kona named these hard-working donkeys the “Bad Ass Ones” because of their reliably strong, but stubborn nature in carrying their precious cargo. The legend of those hard-working donkeys lives on today at Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, a company that is “stubborn” about sourcing, roasting and serving quality Hawaiian coffee with the Aloha Spirit.

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is being brought to Kentucky by resident Bryce Walker, who discovered the brand during a Florida vacation.

“Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii immediately stood out from all other coffee shops,” Walker said. “It had a great feeling of community, a far superior product and a laid back vibe that spoke to me. I expect all who visit us in Lexington will feel exactly the same.”

“We’re thrilled to be opening our first store in Lexington with our franchise partner, Bryce Walker,” said Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii CEO Scott Snyder. “Bryce and his team exemplify what the ‘aloha spirit’ is all about by their commitment to quality, kindness and sense of community.  With a second store planned to open in the next few months, we’re excited for Lexington residents to have multiple destinations to refuel their inner badass.”

Recently under the new ownership of Royal Aloha Coffee Company, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has updated its branding, packaging, and restaurant design concept as part of an aggressive expansion plan to open 150 new locations over the next five years.
