Cinch I.T. Raises Over $64,000 for Why Me & Sherry’s House

Computer support brand hosts 4-day military-style hike for childhood cancer nonprofit.

August 26, 2021 // Franchising.com // WORCESTER, Mass. - Cinch I.T. - an I.T. service provider - has announced it made a record-breaking amount of charitable donations to Why Me & Sherry’s House, a non-profit supporting families with childhood cancer. The I.T. service provider had a goal to raise $15,000 and today, the brand is happy to announce it has surpassed this goal with over $64,000 in donations, with more continuing to flow in.

Last month, President of Cinch I.T. Rick Porter, hosted a 4-day charity challenge for Why Me & Sherry’s House in Worcester. The non-profit has been a customer of Cinch I.T. for a few years and Rick’s company has seen the great impact they provide to local Worcester families. Due to the pandemic, Why Me & Sherry’s House fundraising efforts were lower than usual this year, prompting Porter stepped in, creating the 100 Mile Ruck March Challenge to help raise money. The event was a military-style hike inspired by Porter’s time served in the United States Army, where local business owners hiked 25 miles a day and camped out at nearby breweries each night. Each participant carried a 45 pound backpack that held their essentials to cook their own meals and set up and break down their own camps each night.

“Why Me & Sherry’s House is an amazing organization that supports families across Worcester,” stated Porter. “We are truly speechless at the amount of money we raised and are continuing to see donations roll in even after the event has ended.”

The 100 Mile Ruck March Challenge was comprised of 16 participants, including Porter and Marlborough, franchisees, Timothy Coelho and Tye Jordan.

“Cinch I.T. has participated in events for Why Me & Sherry’s House before by donating and volunteering, but this was the first time we hosted the event for them and our community really came together to help us make it happen,” added Porter. “The event itself was a difficult challenge and I am proud of all the athletes who participated in this noble cause.”

Cinch I.T. provides remote and on-site computer support.
