National Huddle celebrates the franchise’s people and their successes

Headlines from the event include key business highlights and, as a recognized leader in the haircare industry, a reinvigorated focus on optimizing career opportunities for professional stylists.

News of note from the Sport Clips:

  • The majority of new Sport Clips franchisees are veterans, a record percentage for the system.
  • Even through pandemic-forced store closures, Sport Clips, its clients, and product partners donated $1M to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation (VFW) to fund the “VFW’s Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program.
  • Sport Clips is the primary sponsor of Dream Flights, which will soon complete its Operation September Freedom mission to fly 1,000 WWII veterans in open cockpit Stearman biplanes. This epic effort is the largest barnstorming outreach of its kind, focusing on veterans in assisted living facilities.
  • Sport Clips first-ever National Signing Day was implemented by the system after stores reopened following pandemic-forced closures.
  • A new integrated brand campaign launched earlier this year to position Sport Clips as the pros in men's hair and highlight its unmatched training for team members.
  • Expertise offered to Huddle participants included futurist Daniel Burrus's views on disruptive innovation and Kathleen Votaw's thoughts around engaging workplace culture.

Celebrating the franchises' people and their successes with top awards during the event included recognition of:

  • Area Developer of the Year - Duke Sorensen, Pleasant Grove, UT. Duke owns three stores in Utah and covers the UT and ID markets as Area Developer.
  • Area Manager of the Year - April Allen, Lake Charles, LA
  • Manager of the Year (tie)- Lea Egbarts, Omaha, NE
  • Amanda Frey, Mesa, AZ
  • Team Leader of the Year - Business partners Jared Lee and Val Hill, both based in Chandler, AZ. They own 39 stores in AZ, OR, and WA.
  • Coach of the Year - Diana Botello, Austin, TX
  • Logan Trophy - Sport Clips' Highest Honor - Brad & Carla Whitt, Lee's Summit, MO. They own stores in MO, KS, and SD, and their winning store is in Liberty, MO.
