PrimoHoagies CEO Nicholas Papanier, Jr. Named a 2021 Most Admired CEO by Philadelphia Business Journal

Gourmet hoagie franchise top executive honored for leading the company to record growth through challenging times

November 15, 2021 // Franchising.com // WESTVILLE, NJ - PrimoHoagies today announces that its CEO Nicholas Papanier, Jr. has been named a 2021 Most Admired CEO [insert link] by the Philadelphia Business Journal. This year’s awards specifically recognize top executives who led their companies through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with  “skill, agility, and ingenuity,” traits clearly evidenced by Papanier, Jr. PrimoHoagies, known for its gourmet hoagies with high-quality meats and cheeses piled high on fresh-baked rolls, achieved its best year to date in 2020 and has seen an increase in sales YTD of 21%.

Papanier, Jr. officially joined PrimoHoagies, a family business started in 1992, at its first franchise location in New Jersey in 2000. He advanced to become Chief Operating Officer in 2017 and CEO in 2019. The impending COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity for Papanier, Jr. to display his sharp instinct for business and his passion for his employees and the PrimoHoagies brand. As examples, he implemented technology to satisfy the demand for curbside pickup and delivery options and, listening to the consumer, debuted hot sandwiches including the PrimoHoagies Cheesesteak. As a franchisor, Papanier, Jr. has taken a successful business model and evolved PrimoHoagies into a proven and exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs across the country.

“While I am truly grateful and honored to be named among such an impressive group of leaders in the Philadelphia region, the entire PrimoHoagies team deserves recognition for their commitment to supporting our customers through this challenging time,” said Papanier, Jr. “Together we increased our sales system-wide at an unprecedented rate and continue to grow our footprint across the country. With recently signed stores as far West as Denver, we approach our 30th year and look forward to the opening of our 100th store. I could not be prouder of the entire PrimoHoagies organization and what we’ve been able to achieve together.”

Papanier, Jr. also leads Primo Cares, the charitable arm of PrimoHoagies, dedicated to helping children in need. Central to this all-volunteer organization is the annual holiday giving program, which culminates in Papanier, Jr. himself delivering gifts to families in the Philadelphia area. In addition, Papanier, Jr. has started an initiative to deliver more than 1,400 meals to those in need the week of Thanksgiving.

The Philadelphia Business Journal highlighted in its announcement how “each of these Philadelphia-area chief executives has shown grit and resilience in navigating the pandemic over the last year.” Papanier, Jr. and his fellow honorees will be recognized at a live awards ceremony on December 9 and featured in the December 10 issue.
