Old Saint Nick Comes to Town Early to Share “Santa Spine” Prevention Tips!

Santa is Teaming up with MassageLuXe, a National Spa Franchise, to Help Prevent Common Holiday Aches, Pains, and Injuries as his “Helpers” Begin to Deck the Halls

November 30, 2021 // Franchising.com // Santa Claus is coming to town a bit early this year to spread good cheer and good advice about preventing “Santa Spine,” the all-too-common aches, pains and injuries associated with the holiday season. He is visiting MassageLuXe locations nationwide over the next couple weeks to show his “helpers” how to avoid a painful holiday mishap!

Santa and his expert massage therapists are sharing this infographic with simple, but important reminders about the proper way to lift, climb, carry and reach while lugging heavy boxes and shopping bags, using ladders, hanging decorations, or traveling with cumbersome luggage. They’re also available for interviews with local and national media throughout the month.

The holiday hustle keeps hospital emergency rooms busy when Santa’s helpers overextend themselves. During the 2018 holiday season, for example, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported more than 17,000 people were treated in emergency rooms as decking the halls turned disastrous. That’s nearly 300 injuries a day from November through December!

“I don’t just increase my cookie intake this time of year,” says Santa. “I also do stretches and take care to limber up for all the strain I put on my back and muscles during my busy season. The elves here at the North Pole and my ‘helpers’ to the south should join in to keep in tip-top shape--don’t need anyone bent over in pain like a candy cane!”

To prevent those “HO-HO-Help!” outcries, Santa has partnered with expert massage therapists at MassageLuXe, Kris Kringle’s preferred day spa franchise, to provide Five Tips to Avoid Santa Spine. Before Santa’s regularly scheduled spa treatments in December, the duo will demonstrate proper stretches, share practical and timely pain prevention tips, show the correct way to climb a ladder and explain how to set up the tree and hang lights without over-exerting. Reporters are welcome to join them and spread the information to their readers and viewers and prevent those hospital emergencies!

Stephanie Hill, Vice President of Marketing for MassageLuXe, is thrilled to be partnering with the North Pole professional and adds one more recommendation to the list for all of Santa’s helpers, “To maintain yuletide cheerfulness, this a perfect opportunity to make time for yourself and focus on feeling your best during what can be a very stressful season. Massage therapy is a valuable tool to keep in mind if you start feeling the holiday strain.”

Indeed, the holidays can bring on stresses. According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 40 percent of folks experience increased stress this time of year. Massage provides great mental and physical rejuvenation. Studies show it reduces pain from fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and other ailments, it helps achieve a better heart rate, and it enhances the body’s immune functions-another favorable benefit to stay well so families can enjoy time together.

Santa and his massage therapists are available for in-person and virtual interviews throughout the holiday season during Santa’s regularly scheduled MassageLuXe appointments.

Visit Santa at the spa or interview him virtually:
