Goldfish Swim School Appoints 20-Year Veteran Carlos Perez as Director of Information Technology

January 06, 2022 // Franchising.com // TROY, Mich. - Goldfish Swim School Franchising, LLC announces the hiring of Carlos Perez as Director of Information Technology. With a 20+ year background in technology, Perez joins the leadership team with a vision to implement and innovate so Goldfish Swim School can continue to build off the rapid growth and strong performance it saw in 2021. As a father of five, Perez aligns with the values and mission of Goldfish Swim School in keeping families and children safer in and around the water.

“In looking for my next role, I wanted to be with a company that prioritized its people, offered family-style services and was dedicated to finding solutions to ensure long-term success. Goldfish is all of that and more,” said Perez. “Working in technology is personally rewarding as I’m able to make someone’s job easier. Technology is constantly evolving and changing, and I plan to ensure we remain at the cutting-edge of innovation and grow with those changes.”

Perez’ career began at IBM before he moved into the finance industry serving as technical support while leading teams. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Officer for Wayne County Michigan before joining Goldfish Swim School. In his new role, Perez will lead the technology team, monitor IT vendor partnerships and align workflow, systems, tools and people to position Goldfish Swim School as a tech-forward company.

“Adding leaders to our team who align with our values is always a priority, which is why we are thrilled Carlos has joined our Goldfish family,” added Chris McCuiston, CEO and Co-Founder of Goldfish Swim School. “Carlos has a plan that will help streamline all efforts and keep our momentum going as we set sights on expanding nationwide. With 120-plus locations and 130 in development, we need to remain at the forefront of technical innovation to support our franchisees, and I’m confident Carlos will play a key role in our next wave of success.”

After the recent hire of a Vice President of Operations, Perez joins the team at a key time as the company recently built out its online training program and restructured its support team to best service franchisees with a hands-on approach. Also new is Goldfish Swim School’s enhanced website that was refreshed as a result of extensive research to strengthen the customer journey with user-friendly functionality - leading to a streamlined approach to registering for lessons, gathering information and more.

Goldfish Swim School provides swim lessons and water safety instruction to infants and children ages four months to 12 years, teaching children how to be safer in and around the water. Each school offers swim lessons and programs using a proprietary philosophy, The Science of SwimPlay®, to build life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment. Each school’s number one focus and main priority is always the same - educating children on water safety while teaching them how to swim and respect the water.
