Dogdrop Expands To Denver With First Multi-Unit Franchisee

June 07, 2022 // Franchising.com // LOS ANGELES - Looking to ride the recession- and pandemic-proof growth of the pet care industry, newcomer Dogdrop is bringing some much-needed scalability and sophistication to the dog daycare space. Just a few months after announcing the company’s franchise opportunities, Dogdrop has signed a five-location deal for the Denver metropolitan area.

Dina Silverman was an early StretchLab franchisee and first operator in Denver, selling her portfolio in 2021.

“I’ve worked at Blue Chip companies my entire career and got to learn from the best when it comes to brand management and brand building. I looked at a lot of brands in the pet care space and think Dogdrop nailed it with regards to branding, value proposition, and the simplicity of their business model. I am thrilled to partner with the incredible corporate team led by Shaina and Greer. Their operating model and proprietary technology will enable me to scale quickly and offer an amazing, tech-enabled member experience to our clientele. I can’t wait for Denver dog parents to experience it. They’re going to be blown away,” says Dina.

Led by founders Shaina Denny and Greer Wilk, Dogdrop offers open play daycare supervised by highly trained staff, with a flexible membership-based pricing model.

At only 2,000 to 3,000 square feet, Dogdrop locations are intentionally smaller than typical daycare facilities, with the aim of delivering an unparalleled level of care to each dog for minimal operating cost. The small footprint allows locations to be placed in dense and highly trafficked urban areas where traditional dog daycares are too big and too industrial to fit, making it easy for pet parents to drop their dog off while they patronize the neighboring retailers.

To deliver the end-to-end experience that millennial and Gen Z dog parents expect and modern franchisees need to be successful, Dogdrop is building a service platform to support all aspects of the business operations and customer experience.

“The technology we’ve built goes far beyond delivering a more seamless member experience. It’s the best tool available in the industry to help our franchise partners manage and optimize their day-to-day operations. We see the investment in our service platform as investing in our franchise partners' success, which is a top priority for us,” explained Shaina, CEO.

Because the start-up costs for a single Dogdrop unit are relatively low compared to many franchises, and because locations can be placed in close proximity to one another, multi-unit owners can open and scale quickly in their market of choice.

Dina plans to open five locations in the Denver area over the next three years and already has a location identified to open the first.

“It’s so validating to see someone with Dina’s experience buy into what we’re doing at Dogdrop. She’s a great fit for us, and we feel very fortunate to have an operator of her caliber be our first Dogdrop franchise partner. She’s already gone above and beyond our expectations, and with Dina at the helm, Denver dog parents can expect the same at their local Dogdrop,” says Greer, COO.

Dina worked with Joshua Kovacs at Oakscale Franchise Development (www.oakscale.com) to secure the multi-unit franchise rights.
