Scooter’s Coffee Continues Growing in Iowa

Hometown Couple Signs Another Multi-Unit Agreement with National Coffee Brand

July 13, 2022 // Franchising.com // OMAHA, Neb. - Scooter’s Coffee, LLC, the Midwest-based drive-thru coffee franchise that is experiencing record-breaking growth, is continuing its effort to grow its presence throughout the United States by bringing its world-class drive-thru coffee to Hiawatha, and Marion, Iowa.

Scooter’s Coffee, based in Omaha, Nebraska, specializes in artisan espresso drinks, fruit smoothies, baked-from-scratch pastries and features its signature drink, the Caramelicious®. The company also recently added depth to its profile with a line of organic hot and iced teas, single-origin coffee and Cold Brew & Cream.

The expansion into Hiawatha and Marion – located just north of Cedar Rapids - is the result of a two-unit franchise agreement signed by existing franchisees, Carissa and Brent Votroubek.

Cedar Rapids natives Carissa and Brent already own three Scooter’s Coffee locations in Cedar Rapids and expect the two newest locations to open this September. “We were so successful with our first three stores that we were open to the possibility of even more, said Carissa. “However, sometimes, it can be challenging to find the right space, especially for a drive-thru business. Luckily, in this case, the timing worked out, so we jumped on the opportunity.”

According to the latest market trends compiled by the National Coffee Association, 60 percent of Americans drank coffee in the past day. That’s more than reported drinking tea, juice, soda, or even tap water! And the number of people who reported buying coffee at a coffee shop or restaurant has risen 20% since January of 2021. The drive-thru coffee model, already popular in our fast-paced society, has boomed during the pandemic, giving customers a way to get a delicious beverage while staying socially distant. Scooter’s Coffee kiosks, with the Brand Promise of “Amazing People, Amazing Drinks… Amazingly Fast! ®” is helping Americans meet that demand.

“I love how community focused Scooter’s Coffee is,” said Carissa. “The company has a real family feel, as opposed to a corporate feel. I think of it as a ‘big little franchise.’ That makes it perfect for Cedar Rapids, which is a ‘big little town.’

Kelly Crummer, Scooter’s Coffee Senior Director of Franchise Recruitment, agrees. “Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is a great market for our brand. These two new suburban locations will allow us to increase our brand’s presence and bring awareness to our great products and service.”
