Scooter’s Coffee Continues Growing in Texas

Texas Natives Sign Multi-Unit Agreement with National Coffee Brand

August 01, 2022 // Franchising.com // OMAHA, Neb. - Scooter’s Coffee, LLC, the Midwest-based drive-thru coffee franchise that is experiencing record-breaking growth, is continuing its effort to grow its presence throughout the United States by bringing its world-class drive-thru coffee locations to Galveston, Alvin, and Texas City, Texas.

Scooter’s Coffee, based in Omaha, Nebraska, specializes in artisan espresso drinks, fruit smoothies, baked-from-scratch pastries and features its signature drink, the Caramelicious®. The company also recently added depth to its profile with a line of organic hot and iced teas, single-origin coffee and Cold Brew & Cream.

The expansion into Southwest Texas is the result of a three-unit franchise agreement signed by Kenny Baker, his wife Rosemary Choi, and their son, Brennan Baker.  When Kenny sold his business in late 2019 and since then he’s been managing his investments. After talking with a friend who signed for 31 Scooter’s Coffee franchises, Kenny investigated it as an investment for his family and saw that the company was growing exponentially. “I don’t have any franchise experience, but I ran a company for years, so I feel comfortable with this venture,” said Kenny. “I especially love Scooter’s Coffee’s friendly, fast service business model.”

According to the latest market trends compiled by the National Coffee Association, 60 percent of Americans drank coffee in the past day. That’s more than reported drinking tea, juice, soda, or even tap water! And the number of people who reported buying coffee at a coffee shop or restaurant has risen 20% since January of 2021. The drive-thru coffee model, already popular in our fast-paced society, has boomed during the pandemic, giving customers a way to get a delicious beverage while staying socially distant. Scooter’s Coffee kiosks, with the Brand Promise of “Amazing People, Amazing Drinks… Amazingly Fast! ®” is helping Americans meet that demand.

“I intend to be very hands on with our franchises,” said Kenny. “I will be the operations manager, my son will handle the day-to-day workings of the stores, and my wife will do the books. If it goes as well as I think it’s going to, we will likely open more stores.”

“Southwest Texas is a great market for our brand,” said Kelly Crummer, Scooter’s Coffee Senior Director of Franchise Recruitment. “These new stores will allow us to increase our brand’s presence in the state and bring awareness to our great products and service.”
