Dogdrop Secures First Location In Denver

Franchisee Dina Silverman, A Seasoned Local Small Business Owner, Will Open First of Five Planned Dog Daycare Sites in the Amenity-Filled 9th & Co Shopping Center.

August 18, 2022 // Franchising.com // LOS ANGELES – Dogdrop, a growing network of dog daycare facilities providing safe socialization, directed activity and training to enrich the lives of dogs and the humans with whom they live, has signed a lease for the first of five dog daycares it plans to open in Denver. Part of a multi-unit franchise agreement announced in June, Dogdrop Denver will open later this year at 985 N. Albion Street, in the trendy 9th & Co. shopping area, next to TruFusion. Dina Silverman will operate the location while seeking additional sites in other parts of Denver to open over the next few years.

“I’m delighted to take this next step toward bringing Dogdrop to Denver,” Silverman says. “9th & Co. is a perfect location for us, as this new development is filled with many wellness amenities, unique shopping destinations, green spaces, and trendy restaurants as well as numerous luxury apartment complexes and Rose Medical Center. We expect to cater to area residents who want to keep their pups occupied and engaged while they shop, dine, exercise or work.”

Created by founders Shaina Denny and Greer Wilk, Dogdrop is a tech-centered dog daycare based around convenience and flexibility. Each location offers high-quality open-play daycare, overseen by highly trained staff, with a flexible membership-based pricing model. Every Dogdrop “Droperator” (i.e., dog attendant) is trained in dog behavior and group dog interaction and is certified in pet CPR. Carefully vetted dogs socialize actively in a safe, supervised setting and are trained to interact better with other dogs and humans once they head home. Dogdrop also operates in-store and online shops offering dog care products.

At only 2,000 to 3,000 square feet, Dogdrop locations can be placed in dense and highly trafficked urban areas where traditional dog daycares won’t fit, thereby creating a convenient way for pet parents to drop their dogs off while they patronize neighboring businesses. Dogdrops deliver an unparalleled level of care to each dog for minimal operating cost. Because the start-up costs are relatively low and because locations can be placed close to one another, multi-unit owners can scale quickly in their market of choice.

“After experiencing high demand from dog parents in Los Angeles, we secured $2.9M in funding to scale our concept, and we’re thrilled to have Dina’s first location serve as the latest step in our mission,” said Dogdrop co-founder Shaina Denny. “We’re out to build the largest network of dog daycares focused on millennial and Gen Z dog parents and look forward to celebrating as each of her locations debuts in Denver and other franchise partners join us in bringing Dogdrop to markets throughout the country.”

Silverman previously owned and operated three local StretchLab franchises and managed strategic partnerships for Starwood Hotels & Resorts and marketing for Disney and Kraft Foods.

“This is an exciting opportunity to capitalize on a growing need in our community,” she said. “With the number of people who acquired a dog during the pandemic, and with people returning to workplaces or simply needing to occupy their dogs while they work from home, we’re in a prime position to provide a high-demand service that delivers the added benefit of creating healthier, happier pets.”
