Hounds Town Franchisees Give Back to Their Communities With the Brand’s Support

The doggy daycare and boarding franchise encourages owners to have charitable partnerships with canine-related organizations.

January 24, 2023 // Franchising.com // At Hounds Town USA, the dog daycare and boarding concept and “home to the happiest dogs on Earth,” taking care of the community’s four-legged friends is the cornerstone of the brand’s mission. But even beyond caring for customers’ pups, the franchise encourages its owners to extend that compassionate spirit to charitable efforts with local organizations.

“Giving back has allowed us to support the training, rehabilitating, fostering and rehoming of many pets,” said VP of Marketing David Martinelli. “As Hounds Town grows, we have more opportunities to give back to other communities. We’re so grateful to have such compassionate franchisees who share our vision of helping pets in need. Ultimately, that’s why we’re all here – for the dogs.”

Many of Hounds Town USA’s franchisees are deeply committed to charitable initiatives and helping animals however they can. Some partner with local rescues to host the foster dogs while they are up for adoption. Others host fundraising events and raffles to donate the proceeds or toys and necessary supplies to shelters in the town.

Jessica Enders, co-owner of Hounds Town of Henderson with her husband Jamie, said one of the initial aspects of the brand that caught their eye is its charitable spirit.

“The brand has been wonderful about encouraging us and supporting us in our efforts — with marketing, with advice on how to start, recommendations on reputable businesses to work with, and anything else,” Enders said. “The corporate team aids us in helping the community in any way they can.”

At their location, the Enders host foster dogs from Heart Alive Village, a Las Vegas animal rescue. For the two years they have been in business, they have been able to help 12 dogs find forever homes. The couple has also worked with the city and participated in local fundraising events, and most recently put together Christmas baskets full of treats and toys to give away - a donation effort perfectly timed with the holiday season’s spirit of giving.

Additionally, Leslie Bottesch and Jane Banke, owners of the Hounds Town Space Coast location in Rockledge, Florida, are also dedicated to “doing what's right for animals” even outside of their franchise business, Bottesch explained.

The women recently hosted a very successful first-annual “Queens for Canines” fundraiser event, with an entertaining drag queen show and a raffle for gift prizes. The event, attended by more than 300 people, raked in $10,000 for donations towards local dog rescue centers, including Furever Home Animal Rescue, Inc., Riley's Rescue of Brevard, SPCA of Brevard and Touch of Grey Rescue.

Franchise owner Steve Garibell is yet another Hounds Town operator who embodies the brand’s giving spirit, no matter the time of year. Garibell has developed a strong relationship with the Bergen County Animal Shelter and has been working with the center for over four years now.

His New Jersey locations host dogs from the shelter to help relieve overcrowding issues, socialize the pups, and provide services to train volunteers on dog handling and assessing dogs for adoption. They also hold fundraisers and donation drives throughout the year, where customers bring items like blankets, treats and toys. Garibell has even brought home two of the dogs they worked with to join his family.

“As a business owner, I have a responsibility to give back,” Garibell said. “That's one of the things that has been ingrained in me my whole life. Whether it's donating our time, resources or money, we really want to help these dogs who don't have a fair shot. Hounds Town is a brand that truly values charity work, and I’m glad to be a part of that.”
