Pizza Factory Opens in Mesa, Increasing Arizona Footprint to Four Locations

Local Arizona Entrepreneur Opens The Brand’s First Location in Maricopa County

February 22, 2023 // // MESA, Ariz. - The award-winning pizza brand is continuing to build upon its growing Arizona presence, with its newest location in Mesa set to open on February 21.

Located at 1221 S Gilbert Road, the Pizza Factory is centrally located within the community, and will offer the same fresh, high-quality ingredients and delicious menu the brand is widely known for at its locations across the country.

The new restaurant is owned by Rich Cardon, an Arizona native who has worked in commercial real estate and business banking for more than 20 years. Cardon has always had a desire to open a restaurant, and found that Pizza Factory was the perfect fit given he is a fan of the west coast legacy brand himself.

“I’ve been frequenting the Pizza Factory in Payson since I was knee high to a grasshopper, so opening my own location with the brand was an easy decision,” said Cardon. “Every experience I’ve had at the restaurant has been amazing. From the customer service to the food to the atmosphere, it has always been great, and it’s no surprise given the brand is led by an amazing team that truly cares about the success of each and every location. At its core, Pizza Factory is a brand that knows good pizza, and I’m excited for the Mesa community to fall in love with the brand the way that I have.”

Pizza Factory is in a league of its own within the pizza industry. On the heels of an impressive year of development, welcoming 20 new franchise agreements in 2022, the brand is off to an equally strong start to 2023. Pizza Factory recently landed on the coveted Entrepreneur Franchise 500® list, rising nearly 50 spots from last year. In addition, the Mesa location is already the brand’s third opening in the early months of 2023, with another three restaurants set to open before the end of Q1.

From multiple fast-casual prototypes to a new Express quick-service model, Pizza Factory maintains its reputation for family-friendly dining and high-quality products. The brand specializes in its vast menu offerings, serving fresh, never frozen hand-tossed pizza, pasta, wings, sandwiches, salads, beer, wine and more. As Pizza Factory continues to develop into new markets, the brand is providing multi-unit operators flexible new-build or conversion options with delivery / curbside and traditional dine-in prototypes ranging from 1,000 – 4,000 sq. ft. The largest option typically features multiple dining sections, an arcade area for the kids, banquet rooms for parties and social gatherings and big-screen TVs throughout the restaurant.

“It is a great feeling to know that many of our franchisees, including Rich, have had such wonderful experiences at Pizza Factory prior to investing in the brand themselves,” said MJ Riva, CEO of Pizza Factory. “Rich’s love and passion for the Pizza Factory brand is clear, and it makes me very confident in his ability to deliver an amazing restaurant experience to the Mesa community.”

With aggressive development efforts underway, Pizza Factory is actively growing and seeking multi-unit operators to develop nationwide. For more information about franchising with Pizza Factory, visit
