American Dairy Queen Corp. Names New York Franchise Owner Mark Goldberg as 2022 Miracle Maker Winner

March 14, 2023 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis - American Dairy Queen Corporation oday announced upstate New York-based DQ® franchise owner Mark Goldberg as the 2022 recipient of the U.S. Dairy Queen Miracle Maker Award.

As a DQ franchisee for more than 10 years, Mark is the owner of DQ restaurants in the greater Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, and Rochester areas. Mark has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® (CMN Hospitals) through community fundraising events and has supported programs to provide resources and funding for a range of hospital rooms at local children’s hospitals in his communities.

“DQ is all about bringing a positive experience to our communities, and Mark has done exceptional work rallying his restaurants and community to support CMN Hospitals and the families and children they serve,” said Maria Hokanson, Executive Vice President of Marketing at American Dairy Queen (ADQ). “Mark exemplifies what it means to be a DQ Miracle Maker, and he has made a lasting difference in his community.”

Mark also connected with other franchisees to support CMN Hospitals and has successfully enrolled 100% of the operators in his markets to participate in Miracle Treat Day®, the largest DQ single-day fundraising event of the year. On Miracle Treat Day®, a DQ tradition since 2006, participating independently owned DQ locations through the U.S. and Canada pledge to donate $1 or more from every Blizzard® Treat sold to benefit their local children’s hospital. The funds raised at DQ® restaurants bring health and hope to their local communities through CMN Hospitals.

“CMN Hospitals touch the lives of families in every community they’re in, and it’s a privilege to support the incredible work they do for families here in New York and throughout the country,” said Mark. “Our efforts are only made possible by the fans, crew and community members who bring enthusiasm and joy to giving back to the children who need it the most.”

Each year, ADQ names one U.S. DQ franchise owner as a Miracle Maker for exemplifying the DQ brand’s giving spirit and going above and beyond in support of their local children’s hospitals. Mark’s efforts across his DQ restaurants have created welcoming, supportive spaces for families served by multiple CMN Hospitals.

“Mark is the kind of person who offers so much more than simply support,” said Betsy Findlay, Senior Director of Advancement at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, New York. “He brings enthusiasm, love and joy to his work with CMN Hospitals in upstate New York and has inspired many others to join his efforts along the way.”

The DQ brand has partnered with CMN Hospitals for 39 years, and the DQ system across the U.S. and Canada has donated more than $175 million to children’s hospitals to date. All contributions are made to CMN Hospitals to help kids in each community.
