Computer Support Franchise Hosts 4-Day Military-Style Hike for Childhood Cancer Nonprofit

July 17, 2023 // Franchising.com // WORCESTER, Mass. - Cinch I.T. has started preparations for the third annual 100 mile, military-style ruck march forWhy Me & Sherry’s House, a non-profit supporting families with childhood cancer. The event, which will be taking place from July 20-23, will be hosted by former U.S. Army Ranger, President of Cinch I.T., and Princeton Massachusetts resident, Rick Porter. New to the event this year is a Kid Ruck Event where boys and girls, ages 6-17, will be able to test their endurance by completing as many one-mile loops on the Seven Saws Brewery trails as they can during the allotted time. The I.T. service provider has set a goal to raise $250,000 through the two events by July 20.

The 100-mile, military-inspired event, will host a small group of 46 athletes ruck (hike with a weighted rucksack) 25 miles a day for four days. Each competitor will camp out on the farm of a local brewery and continue the march each morning at sunrise. Athletes carry everything they needed for the four-day event on their backs as they navigate the 100-mile course. They will cook their own meals, set up and break down their own camps each night, tend to their feet and bodies, and battle through heat and exhaustion, all in an attempt to earn the coveted 100-Mile Ruck March Finisher Medal.

At the end of each day, individuals will come out and support the ruck athletes by joining them at a different brewery to toast to their accomplishments and encourage them to ruck on. The three participating breweries; Milk Room Brewery, Stone Cow Brewery, and Oakholm Brewing, will all help by offering their hospitality and providing an area for the competitors to camp, making the entire event possible.

When I hear the words spoken by the families whose lives have been touched by this remarkable organization, I realize that the struggles and difficulties we will face during this ruck march aren’t even a fraction of the battles these families go through every single day. Their strength, courage and love for their children is awe-inspiring and I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to support them in some small way.”

Through thick and thin, the athletes that participate in the 100-Mile Ruck March are extremely grateful for the opportunity, knowing that their efforts will benefit those families enduring a much more difficult challenge associated with pediatric cancer.
