Sylvan Learning Center Awards 11 New Territories

August 25, 2023 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Sylvan Learning awarded 11 new territories in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2023.

The territories are located across seven states and represent six new and five existing franchise owners. Among the new franchise owners are Arthur and Nina Fonteneaux, and Joe and Nancy Shrewsbury.

The Fonteneauxs were awarded two territories in Addicks and Westbranch, Texas. Arthur served in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, and currently serves as a State Law Enforcement Officer. His wife, Nina, is also a military Veteran and is now a nurse practitioner working toward her doctorate.

“As first responders, Nina and I have an up-close look at the real needs in our local community,” said Arthur. “We see that students are struggling and feel the responsibility to provide a welcoming, positive environment for them to get the educational support they need outside of the classroom.”

In addition, the Shrewsburys were awarded two territories in Lake Wylie and Rock Hill, South Carolina. Nancy recently retired from her 20-year career as an educator to venture into franchise ownership with her husband Joe.

“Although I’m sunsetting my career as a teacher, I’m reinvesting my time and energy into something I truly love outside the classroom,” said Nancy.

In addition to awarding several new territories, Sylvan transferred ownership of seven centers among two new and five existing franchise owners.
