Kolache Shoppe Pearland Celebrates Grand Opening

October 03, 2023 // Franchising.com // PEARLAND, Texas - Kolache Shoppe is celebrating the grand opening of its newest franchise location in Pearland, Texas, just south of Houston. Franchisees Cecilia and Luís Rey are delight to expand the beloved bakery brand to the town’s new Broadway Plaza shopping center, conveniently situated at 11940 Broadway, Ste. 170, Pearland, TX 77584. This latest Kolache Shoppe franchise quietly began serving patrons after Labor Day weekend and is eagerly anticipating a week filled with Grand Opening events, scheduled from Tuesday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 8.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 6 a.m., Kolache Shoppe owners Randy and Lucy Hines and Pearland franchisees Cecilia and Luís Rey will welcome the public with daily specials. Images here. The grand opening schedule is as follows:

  • All Week: The Pearland bakery will feature a special Pear Crisp Kolache in collaboration with local jam vendor Biggs Farm.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 3: Free small savory kolache with purchase.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 4: Free coffee drink with purchase.
  • Thursday, Oct. 5: Ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. with Pearland Chamber of Commerce; free mug with purchase of a dozen kolaches (any flavor).
  • Friday, Oct. 6: Community Day! Ten percent of proceeds will benefit the Pearland Police Department.
  • Saturday, Oct. 7: One free sweet kolache with purchase.
  • Sunday, Oct. 8: Block party and BOGO all day! Jeremiah’s Italian Ice and Pet Supply Plus will join the festivities, along with a balloon artist and more.

As is the case at existing Kolache Shoppe locations, the cornerstone of the Pearland bakery remains the original, decades-old recipe for their enriched yeast dough. Fluffy and lightly sweet, the Czech-inspired, Texas-influenced pastry dough is the perfect foil to the Shoppe’s two dozen signature sweet, savory and breakfast-style fillings, as well as monthly specials, all of which will be available on the Pearland menu.

October specials include the Oktoberfest Kolache, made with a breakfast sausage patty, smoked provolone and garlic sauerkraut from local purveyor Scotty’s Foods, and the Drunken Pecan, filled with cream cheese, salted and roasted pecans and bourbon cajeta from Blue Heron Farm. The drink is a Spiced Pumpkin Latte featuring real pumpkin purée simmered with fall spices and condensed milk in a latte made with fresh Pearland Coffee Roasters coffee. October specials are available Friday through Sunday through the end of the month.

Dedicated patrons to area farmers markets, the Hines are committed to sourcing as many ingredients as possible from local purveyors, including through collaborations for their seasonal specials. The Reys will follow suit, making small ingredient swaps here and there, including sourcing legendary smoked brisket from Killen’s Barbecue by two-time James Beard Award semifinalist Ronnie Killen. They’ve partnered with Pearland Coffee Roasters to offer freshly brewed drip coffee. Other Kolache Shoppe vendor partners include Prasek’s Family Smokehouse, Kiolbassa Smoked Meats, Just Pure Flavors, Frenchy’s and La Boucherie.

The Pearland Kolache Shoppe’s new buildout is reminiscent of the bright, inviting design of the Heights location, complete with warm wood accents, white subway tile and bold blue-and-white patterned motifs. The Reys also commissioned local artist Whitney Hayden to paint a charming, pear-shaped mural indoors. A drive-thru window allowing quick takeaway and pre-order pickups will undoubtedly prove popular with commuters heading into Houston via Highway 288. With the bakery directly in front of Shadow Creek High School, Cecilia and Luís also look forward to serving students, parents and staff there as well as from all nearby schools.

“We enjoy living in Pearland,” says Luís. “We love the community and look forward to serving the families here, our neighbors. From our family to yours, we're committed to delivering the highest quality kolaches, prepared fresh on-site daily. Our mission is to bring joy to our guests’ mornings with top-notch food, unbeatable service and a smile.” “We genuinely look forward to connecting with our friends and customers face-to-face,” adds Cecilia. “We are humbled and grateful to have such an incredible community to support us.”

To accommodate early morning commuters, Kolache Shoppe Pearland is open Tuesday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On weekdays from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m., catch the Late Bird happy hour, during which kolaches are buy-one-get-one-free until close. The bakery is closed on Mondays. Curbside pickup is available via online ordering. Delivery will be offered via Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats.
