Sylvan Learning Awards Territory to Center Director in North Carolina

November 15, 2023 // Franchising.com // BALTIMORE - Sylvan Learning is transferring ownership of its Greenville, North Carolina center to Melissa Britner, the former center director of the location.

Britner is an educator who originally worked as a site manager for Sylvan during the No Child Left Behind era. After several years as a public school educator, Britner returned to Sylvan and grew her institutional knowledge by managing five centers across three states. She ultimately became executive director of the Greenville center where she has resided for over 20 years.

“When the opportunity presented itself to own the Greenville center, I knew it was my calling,” said Britner. “My passion for helping students has continued to grow while working for Sylvan, and I’ve seen firsthand that the individualized curriculum truly works. I’ve always been able to lean on Sylvan’s support system, so I know they will help me be successful as a franchise owner.”

Sylvan Learning serves as a key resource for students nationwide as they work to recover from pandemic-related learning loss. Similarly, more educators than ever are exploring business ownership with the brand to provide personalized educational support to their communities.

“The Greenville center is in great hands with Melissa,” said Jeff Stephenson, Vice President of Franchise Development at Sylvan. “She has left a positive mark at every center she's touched throughout her tenure with Sylvan, and Greenville is no different. We’re committed to helping her in this transition from center director to franchise owner, a title we know she is proud to hold.”
