Retro Fitness Adds to Leadership Team with New CMO Tim Schroder

January 29, 2024 // Franchising.com // WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - When it came time to hire a new Chief Marketing Officer, Retro Fitness decided to be creative and look for someone outside the fitness industry who could bring a different outlook and new ideas to the role. And when CEO Andrew Alfano met Tim Schroder, he knew it was a great fit.

“Tim has extensive experience directing strategic marketing for big, household-name brands,” said Alfano. “He’s just the kind of pro we need to head up our marketing efforts.”

Schroder joined the company as CMO in November 2023, bringing more than 25 years of experience in managing multi-unit restaurant and retail franchise corporations. He most recently served as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for St. Louis-based Save A Lot Food Stores, directing strategic marketing and retail operations.

Previously, Schroder held executive roles including Chief Marketing Officer for Golden Corral Corporation in Raleigh, N.C., and SVP Marketing & Operations Services for Firebird Restaurant Group in Dallas.

Another recent C-suite hire, Larry Strain, joined the company as Chief Development Officer in October 2023 – bringing more than 25 years of experience in driving multi-unit development for franchising growth brands, including Starbucks, McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts, to Retro Fitness.

The company also recently tapped public relations and digital media agency Champion.

Retro Fitness is a hometown gym dedicated to building a strong community within the club's four walls, while being a fabric of the community outside.
