Local Couple Signs Agreement to Open Washington State’s First Location

Co-owners Chris and Camilla Avery have raised and homeschooled all nine of their children with only one still at home. They are proud grandparents to 10 too! The couple owns a well-respected commercial construction company now but have seen their fair share of struggles. At one point not long ago, they moved into an RV with four of their kids to gain financial stability. “Our kids have seen us barely survive, our kids have learned perseverance, our kids will see us succeed.”

The family lives in a rural area, and there are no coffee shops near them, so they have decided to open one. “I liked Scooter’s Coffee because it’s not a big corporate model,” said Camilla. “It’s just good people making good coffee.”

Some of Chris and Camilla’s adult children will be involved in the business. “One of our son’s wives will manage the store, and another son will be the assistant manager,” said Camilla. “Hopefully, he will want to open his own Scooter’s Coffee one day.”
