Checkers & Rally's To Add 30 Modular Units by End of Year

More and more Checkers & Rally's franchisees are opting for the brand's new modular design structure that is less expensive to build and goes up in half the time of a traditional building.

Multi-unit operators like Angelo Freites have been at the forefront of the movement. "The main reason we decided to go with a modular restaurant was to eliminate time," says Freites. "The modular building is fabricated in a very controlled factory which allows you the ability to drop the modular building onto the foundation thereby eliminating 30 to 60 days of stick building."

Other Checkers & Rally's franchisees are looking to the new design choice to help them add units more quickly. Brand officials say they expect to have more than 60 new restaurants open by year end, approximately 30 will be modular build-outs.

The process shaves time off development, lowers construction costs, and minimizes time spent securing city permits. The increased speed and lower costs allow Checkers & Rally's corporate and franchisees to expand into markets that were once deemed cost-prohibitive. Once set, locations typically open 30-60 days later.

The first location opened this past January in Pembroke Park, Florida. Others followed in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, and Maryland.
