Maui Wowi Hawaiian Goes Green for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo

Coffee and smoothie franchise, Maui Wowi Hawaiian, to compost banana peels and coffee grounds from the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo in an effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.

Greenwood Village, Colo. (PRWEB) February 07, 2013 - Maui Wowi Hawaiian has been accepted as a vendor at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo held at the AT&T Center February 7-24. The Hawaiian coffee and all-natural smoothie franchise in San Antonio is owned by local franchisee Miles Erwin, under the name Alamo City Hawaiian Beverage Company (ACHB) and this is his first year participating at the event.

“The rodeo is the largest, same location event in San Antonio and a family friendly beverage service is perfect for these crowds,” said Erwin. “We will have hot and cold Hawaiian themed drinks available to satisfy customers of all ages.”

Maui Wowi is no stranger to rodeos. A franchisee located in the Houston area has been participating as a specialty beverage vendor at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for several years and continues to build upon his success year after year. A Colorado franchisee also just finished a successful year at the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo in Denver. Maui Wowi franchisees have established themselves as the go-to vendors for premium coffees and all-natural smoothies at events, venues, kiosks, stores, and catered functions.

Erwin has set lofty goals for his first year in operation and plans to take a lead from other successful Maui Wowi operators by not only making a name for his business at the Rodeo through high sales but also by becoming a steward for environmental awareness. He plans to reduce his environmental footprint one coffee and smoothie at a time by composting the waste that accumulates after each event. All banana peels and coffee grounds leftover from the Rodeo and Stock Show will be donated as compost.

“We decided early on to be an environmentally friendly business. About sixty percent of our waste can be composted,” said Erwin.

He plans to continue composting at every event and is looking for a local garden or organization that would benefit from the all-natural fertilizer. Since becoming a Maui Wowi franchisee in 2012, Erwin has participated in several environmentally focused events, including Solarfest and Live Green Fest, helping to raise community awareness about clean energy and environmental responsibility.

Erwin says he is looking forward to the possibility of becoming a permanent fixture at the AT&T Centerthrough a partnership with Aramark. He continues to grow his business and will be participating at upcoming local events, such as King William Fair and Alamo Heights Night.
