Staffing Employees Receive Prestigious Community Award

Express Employment Professionals Selects First Champions of Hope Honorees

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (PRWEB) March 15, 2017 - Five staffing employees from across North America were recently honored with the Champions of Hope Award from Express Employment Professionals.

The award was introduced in 2016 and celebrates Express franchise staff members who consistently go above and beyond their job descriptions to spread the spirit of hope and embody a culture of caring.

The honorees were: John Calabrese, Jr, of Utica, NY; Tracy Golden-Sanchez of Grand Rapids, MI; Sarah Robinson of Hot Springs, AR; Clinton Bradley of Kansas City, MO; and Dan Heinen of Eureka, CA.

All five recipients were honored at the company’s International Leadership Conference in San Francisco in February. Additionally, Calabrese received the overall Champion of Hope award for his exceptional dedication to the community.

Calabrese’s idea to purchase a used military cargo truck that acts as both a moving company billboard and a vehicle for collecting funds and donations for local veterans has become an outstanding initiative in the Utica area. Partnering with local businesses, including the Utica Comets hockey team and the Feed Our Vets food pantry, Express has collected approximately 17 tons of food for local veterans.

“I believe this has become such a great success because of the community and the partnerships we have,” Calabrese said. “It’s a symbol of hope for veterans, so they know someone is looking out for them after they looked out for us.”

Heinen has a passion for helping others, especially the local homeless population. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Workforce Development Board, as well as secretary of the local rotary club. Most recently, Heinen was involved with the Kwan Chinn Homeless Day Center, a program that helps people escape homelessness and prepare for the workforce.

“We have a lot of people looking for work in our community every single day, but what’s really touched me are the hard-to-serve individuals,” Heinen said. “I really feel like we need to help those individuals find work and get back on their feet.”

Golden-Sanchez was honored for going above and beyond her everyday work to provide hope and tools for those in need.

She mentors women who are reentering the workforce and volunteers to participate in mock interviews at local schools. “The passion I have for making a difference in people’s lives comes from recognizing that everyone has a gift and a talent inside of them,” said Golden-Sanchez. “Sometimes, people just need that extra encouragement and tools to move past where they are.”

Robinson is a recruiting specialist for the Hot Springs Express office, where she helps job seekers find work and connects clients with great employees. In her role, she often goes out of her way to ensure associates have the tools they need to accept a job, including personally buying clothing items. “When associates come see us at Express, they’re not always in their best place. They’re hurting or they’re a little bit down,” Robinson said. “I want people to understand that you can move forward. My end purpose is to give back.”

Bradley, Operations Manager of the Northland Kansas City Express office, is known for his dedication to the community he serves. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Bradley is involved with numerous community and veterans’ organizations. In addition to his role at Express, Bradley also focuses on keeping his clients up-to-date on business challenges and trends and hosts appreciation events for Express associates. “My past situations give me a lot of perspective to understand people’s current situations,” Bradley said. “And, I want to lead by example.”
