Iron Tribe Fitness and neverthirst Raise More Than $400,000 at Annual Workout for Water Event

Annual Workout for Water Event to Provide Clean Water in North Africa and Asia

May 26, 2023 // Franchising.com // BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Dedicated to changing lives through fitness and nutrition, Birmingham-based franchise Iron Tribe Fitness and nonprofit ministry neverthirst announced today the raising of more than $400,000 during their annual Workout for Water event. The high-energy fitness event brings the community together each year to provide clean and living water for those who lack access in North Africa and Asia.

Nearly 200 people participated in this year’s event, which took place over the past few weeks in Birmingham, Huntsville, Nashville, and Baton Rouge. Participants were divided into groups of four and alternated holding large, 40-pound jerry cans of water while the others ran, did push-ups, and other activities.

“We're eternally grateful for the continued generosity and support of the fitness community towards our shared mission of bringing change and hope to families in need,” said Iron Tribe Fitness founder and CEO Forrest Walden. “Every year, the Tribe bands together as a team, shows up rain or shine, sweats, cheers, and pushes each other on, until we change lives. This year was no different.”

Iron Tribe Fitness and neverthirst will now work with skilled in-country partners to choose the water technology that will best serve a community based on geographical location, terrain, access to spare parts, and local preferences. Some of the solutions include rope pump wells, hand pumps, solar-powered water pumps, rehabilitating hand pumps, gravity-fed systems, biosand filters, and household toilets.

"We continue to be amazed by the impact of Workout for Water. What started as a prayer and idea from Forrest 13 years ago, has turned into a movement that is changing some of the poorest regions of the world,” said neverthirst CEO Matt Letourneau. “One in 10 people still lack access to clean water in our world today, and every Workout for Water participant is taking a stand that this is not okay. So, they come out, join a tough workout, and give generously to serve families in need. This tribe is impacting thousands of lives in some of the most unreached places on the planet.
