Bonchon on a Path To Be One of the Fastest-Growing Restaurant Brands in the Industry
Korean fried chicken brand Bonchon is coming off another record-setting year and headed into 2022 with bold strategic growth plans and full-steam-ahead momentum.
Bonchon took the fast-casual world by storm last year by entering several new markets, partnering with strategic multi-unit operators, posting positive sales figures, and capitalizing on a growing love of Korean fried chicken that allows fans to “Crunch Out Loud”. All told, the brand, which also features Asian fusion cuisine and other Korean specialties, opened 12 new locations in the US in 2021, and has plans to open 30 more in 2022.

In fact, Bonchon has consistently outperformed all other segments and cuisines in its two year metrics (2021 vs. 2019) with positive 23% same store sales as of Dec. 25, 2021, according to research data from Black Box Intelligence.
One strategy that has helped make the brand a growing success and a performance powerhouse is the way it embraces technology and streamlines operations. For example, a focus on digital orders has led to it accounting for nearly half of Bonchon’s sales in 2021, a hefty increase from the 11.7% prior to 2020. Elsewhere, the brand is continuing to prioritize franchise support by integrating new experienced corporate team members and Field Business Consultants who provide guidance on best practices, customers service, food quality, and menu strategy.
