Gold's Gym Sells 24 Company-Owned Locations To Franchisee
Former Gold's Gym executive Matt Clifford has purchased the franchise rights to 24 company-owned Gold's Gym locations in the Washington D.C. area.
Clifford and his partners Brenda Jorgensen and Josh Fuglsby will operate the locations under their company, CFJ Holdings. All three are former Gold's Gym corporate veterans. Clifford will be the company's president and CEO, Jorgenson becomes the chief experience officer, and Fuglsby will serve as the franchise group's chief operating officer.
Clifford's association with Gold's Gym dates back to 2001 when he was a front desk team member at Gold's Gym Van Ness in D.C. He climbed the organization's corporate ranks and most recently oversaw operations of approximately 70 company-owned gyms east of Texas. Jorgensen previously served as a director of human resources for Gold's Gym across the Eastern U.S., while Fuglsby's 20-year history with the brand includes serving as a regional vice president overseeing Gold's Gym operations across San Antonio, Colorado, and California.
"The fact that the gym I once served as a front desk team member for is now one of 24 Gold's Gym locations we own and operate is a testament to the incredible opportunities we have access to as part of the Gold's Gym family," said Clifford. "My partners and I see tremendous potential to enhance the Gold's Gym experience in the D.C. market. We are excited to strengthen the ties between the Gold's Gym brand and the communities we serve across the greater D.C. area."
Founded in 1965, Gold's Gym has grown to more than 700 locations serving 3 million people across six continents.
