IBA/IFA Joint Conference on International Franchising Kicks Off May 18–19
With the tide finally turning in the battle against Covid, franchisors around the globe are turning their attention back to international franchise expansion. One way for franchisors ready to cast their expansionary eye overseas and catch up quickly on the past year in global franchising is the upcoming IBA/IFA Joint Conference: International Franchising in the Dawn of a New Age. The conference takes place next month May 18–19 – virtually, of course. We’re not out of the spiky woods yet.
The IBA is the International Bar Association, so the event will have a heavily flavored legalistic focus as its sessions delve into all aspects of international franchising.
The online conference kicks off with breakout sessions on Hot Topics in International Franchise Laws. Topics will include force majeure, antitrust issues, compliance, public relations in different countries, as well as regional focuses around the world.
The additional track on Day 1 will dive into data privacy issues around the world (GDPR and non-GDPR countries), a growing concern for franchisors looking to market themselves in different countries.
Day 2 features concurrent workshops:
- Selling Franchises Internationally After Covid-19
- Technological Innovation in Franchising – Changes to the Franchise Agreement
- Litigation or Dispute Resolution – How to Deal with Innovation – Cause for Termination?
The joint conference concludes with a panel of international franchise law experts discussing recent and topical legal developments affecting franchising in their respective countries.
