Happy Joe's Heats Up for Growth Amid High Franchise Recognition
With big plans for 2023 and a 50-year milestone under its belt, Happy Joe's Pizza & Ice Cream is primed to make magical memories for years to come.
The iconic fan-favorite pizza brand continues to build momentum with eight consecutive quarters of positive sales and plans for explosive growth over the next five years.
There continues to be a lot to celebrate at Happy Joe's. On the heels of a year-long celebration of the beloved brand's 50th anniversary, Happy Joe’s recently earned a nod from QSR Magazine as one of the "Top 50 Contenders for 2022" and furthered its trajectory by being named to Pizza Marketplace's “Top 100 Movers & Shakers.”
Being ranked among the nation's most successful and innovative fast-casual restaurants and poised for future success is another significant step forward for Happy Joe's, says Tom Sacco, Chief Happiness Officer, CEO, and President.
"These honors are motivation to keep working toward being the top pizza brand in the country," Sacco says. "We've heavily invested in our digital efforts to better deliver our one-of-kind, gourmet menu for guests across the country, and we're glad to see it paying off with this type of recognition.
Fifty years of blood, sweat, and tears have gotten our brand to this point, and we aren't stopping any time soon. We continue ramping up our expansion efforts in Arizona, Florida, Texas, and internationally. We're on a mission to be the preeminent experiential pizza brand that creates lifelong emotional connections with families as we build our 'Happy Places' across our beloved country."
With three company-owned restaurants and 42 franchise locations, Iowa-based Happy Joe's looks to ramp up the leading family-friendly chain's presence across the southern U.S. But that's not all. On the International front, Happy Joe's aims to open over 25 additional locations across Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
Forward-thinking innovation remains a cornerstone for the brand. Faced with supply chain challenges and social distancing mandates caused by the disruption of the pandemic, Happy Joe’s got creative to keep up with the demand for hot and fresh pizza. The company built a new online ordering system to support its already robust, in-house delivery system and continued to seek ways to reinvent its brand and guest experience.
Major milestones in 2022 included introducing a new, streamlined website design to capture the power of the brand’s voice and launching a loyalty app powered by Punchh to earn points toward new orders and branded personal items.
So, what’s the magic behind the Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream formula? Chief Happiness Officer Sacco told Market Business News it all comes down to prioritizing excellence by focusing on being “Best-in-Class” in everything. The brand offers “consistently excellent food, great value for the dollar, innovative menu offerings, creating magical memories for children” and is heavily involved in the local communities each restaurant serves. The most successful of these franchises “operate with a servant’s heart, a warrior spirit, and are passionate about their business.”
It's a recipe that’s created success for five decades of business and the promise for an even brighter Happy Joe’s future.
