Multi-Unit Franchisee Insight - Measuring Growth & Looking Ahead

We talk to successful multi-unit operators regularly here at Franchise Update Media. These busy on-the-go people share great insight and wisdom with us through our profile stories in Multi-Unit Franchisee magazine. Here, from our archives, are some insightful responses from some of these franchisees.

Growth meter: How do you measure your growth?
By staying true to my vision and monitoring KPIs.

Vision meter: Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years?
For Tierra Encantada, I hope to have three to five locations open and operating. With my Liberty Tax business, I hope to continue to grow the brand in my markets and grow revenue as well.
Mohammad "Kash" Akhtar, multi-unit franchisee of Tierra Encantada/Liberty Tax

Growth meter: How do you measure your growth?
Comparable sales to the year before with a focus on growing sales--individual store sales and as a whole portfolio.

Vision meter: Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years?
Right where I am today.
Shahid Hashmi, multi-unit franchisee of Popeyes, ZIPS Dry Cleaners, and Retro Fitness

Growth meter: How do you measure your growth?
By unit sales increase over the previous year, not by the number of units added.

Vision meter: Where do you want to be in 5 years? 10 years?
In 5 years I would like to have around 15 restaurants with strong management. In 10 years I hope to have turned over our business to our son and that my wife and I are traveling the world.
Robert Wiggins, Jr., multi-unit franchisee of Huddle House, Checker's, Dick's Wings & Grill, Captain D's, Bubbakoo's Burritos, Arby's, Pizza Inn, Sleep Inn
