"I have the distinction to be the first Dickey’s Owner/Operator to open a Dickey’s in a Road Ranger truck stop. Since opening in November 2016, I have focused on engaging with my community through local marketing. Before opening my two Dickey’s locations, I had no previous restaurant experience. But through Dickey’s four-week training program, I was able to prepare for every aspect of restaurant ownership. I consider myself to be successful with my two Dickey’s locations. With Dickey’s local marketing program, I am able to engage with my community and create loyal guests."

"I am getting ready to open my fourth Dickey’s location, and I couldn’t be happier. I love barbecue and I love community involvement, and those happen to be my two keys to success. Dickey’s has changed for the better in the past few years. The best change by far, though, is the new restaurant design. The look is new and fresh, and it maximizes profitability. Communication is also always improving, and I think it’s awesome right now. We have two new committees, NOOC and RAAC, where Owner/Operators can give feedback, plus now we have an online forum to communicate as well. It really shows that Dickey’s wants to listen. I am very involved in my community and have a great catering business because of the tools the home office provides. I love being a Dickey’s Owner/Operator and look forward to opening additional locations."

Testimonials

"My family has been in the franchising business for more than 15 years. In addition to Dickey’s, we own several Little Caesar’s locations. Our Dickey’s location is in the heart of Erie. Many people live in this community and there are a lot of businesses in the area. We are proud to be a part of the community, serving Texas-style barbecue. We were also the first store outside of Texas to open with the new design."

"I am very passionate about the Dickey’s brand. I’ve owned my location in Washington for four years, and I’ve am proud to be part of such a growing brand. Dickey’s has great food but also a great operations model. I know I’m supported by the home office and have had great experiences with the various departments when I needed help. One thing that has been so helpful for my store is the daily training video and newsletter. I appreciate being in the loop when it comes to upcoming promotions and initiatives, and the training helps us reinforce standards even when we’re located so far away from the home office. I’m glad I invested in a brand that is innovative and up to date with market trends while keeping its core quality."

"After being with Dickey’s Barbecue Pit for five years, I have seen growth not only in the number of operating stores but in the menu, the environment of the stores and in the home office. I originally came to Dickey’s opportunities because of the unique concept and the demand for barbecue in the greater Sacramento area. Today, I am the proud owner of nine Dickey’s locations throughout greater Sacramento. In the last five years Dickey’s has evolved to stay competitive. We recently updated the look of our stores to a modern design with chalkboard-style walls and reclaimed wood. We also now offer new ways to enjoy barbecue at different portions and price points. Dickey’s continues to evolve with technology and has great ongoing support from the home office. They are responsive to feedback too, which is appreciated. All in all, I am very happy I went into business with Dickey's."

"I joined the Dickey’s system in 2006, and a lot has changed in 11 years. When I first joined, the system was significantly smaller. The brand has grown exponentially in the last few years, which means the home office had to grow to accommodate. I’ve seen internal structure be put into place, which has helped us grow to where we are now. There has been a lot of change as we grew, but the best change by far is the training program. We have an online training program and daily videos that are great to train new employees and refresh the veterans. We are successful because we work hard to uphold the highest standards, and the training tools are great daily reminders for everyone."

"I have been a business owner for most of my life. I have owned jewelry stores and 7-11 franchises, but the support I receive from Dickey's makes all the difference. Dickey's is not only a fun and happy place to work, it has systems and processes in place to support franchisees and is committed to our success."

"22 years ago my father Frank purchased the first Dickey’s franchise. Today I have taken over the family business and own six Dickey’s stores. My family has always loved being a part of the Dickey’s brand and watching it grow. While a lot has changed about Dickey’s, a lot has stayed the same. Dickey’s is still a family company and I appreciate that the Dickey family is still very much involved. We still have great quality food, and we are always improving with training, communications and the store’s appearance. I am happy and successful with Dickey’s, and appreciate all the support I get from the home office. I enjoy what I do and who I do it with."

"Chris James, Angela Pasten and I have been business partners for many years. We have owned other restaurants before Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, but decided to partner with Dickey’s after tasting the slow-smoked flavors and seeing how excited the residents of Southern California are about great authentic barbecue. Texas-style Barbecue fits into everyone’s lifestyle. We are happy to be the place to go for great barbecue in Irvine, California."

"I am new to the Dickey’s system, having opened my first location in December 2016. I chose Dickey’s because it is a growing, energetic brand. My family has been in restaurants my whole life, so I have experience with several other franchise concepts. So far, I can say that I appreciate how Dickey’s invests upfront in its business and its people. Communication has been great as we have settled in with Dickey’s. I have been able to get any questions answered by the home office, and now we have an online forum to talk with other Owner/Operators, so I feel that I am heard. I’m looking forward to opening several locations in my home state and am proud to be a Dickey’s Owner/Operator"

"I first joined the Dickey’s system in 2000, and now I own three stores. I really love the Dickey’s franchise system and I am always reminded why. Dickey’s has grown a lot, and with that growth has evolved its communications. I am very happy with the two-way communication we have now. Dickey’s has changed a lot in 16 years, but the best change has been our marketing. I’ve noticed that we reach more people now with the way we do our marketing. Overall, I’m very happy with my decision to join and stay with Dickey’s. I’ve been successful with this concept because of their ongoing training and reinforcing the standards. Any Owner/Operator can be successful with Dickey’s model – stay engaged, work in the store and do catering. It’s a great recipe for success and happiness as a business owner!"

"Before I invested with Dickey’s I researched several barbecue concepts. I knew I wanted to add a barbecue restaurant to my portfolio and I went with Dickey’s because the product was high-quality and simple. I currently own seven Dickey’s locations with my brother, and we have been in business with Dickey’s for seven years. We kept seeing great success with each store opening, so we kept coming back for more. Overall, Dickey’s has evolved to meet the needs of today’s guests with advances such as online ordering and third party sales, which is great for attracting new people to try our barbecue. Sales trends come and go, but quality food is what keeps us steady."

"I am happy to serve Texas-style barbecue to my community in Camp Hill. We frequently have new guests come in for the first time. In one example, a family of seven recently came into my store and we worked to make them feel at home. We explained all about how we smoke our meats daily and offered free samples so they would know what to order. I think we made at least seven new loyal guests that day."
