Mississippi Multi-Unit Franchisee to Open 6 Newk's Eatery Restaurants

Popeyes multi-unit operator Skip Russell has just become a multi-brand operator after signing a new development agreement to open six Newk’s Eatery stores across southern Mississippi and Louisiana. Russell, who is the owner of Russell Restaurant Group, Inc., has spent more than 26 years in the restaurant business and operates several Popeyes locations in Mississippi.

“When looking at other franchises, Newk’s stood out at the top because of its deep-rooted culture in Mississippi,” said Russell. “Newk’s is a household name that has an excellent reputation for great food and service to all its guests. The corporate team made us feel like part of the family from the day we met them, and after several meetings, we knew that we made the right decision in becoming Newk’s franchisees.”

Jackson, Mississippi-based Newk’s Eatery now has just under 100 units operating in 15 states.
