Multi-Unit Franchisee Insight – Passion In Business & Work/Life Balance

We talk to successful multi-unit operators regularly here at Franchise Update Media. These busy on-the-go people share great insight and wisdom with us through our profile stories in Multi-Unit Franchisee magazine. Here, from our archives, are some insightful responses from some of these franchisees.

How would you describe your passion in business?
Executing on rapid, consistent growth with the best team in the industry.

How do you balance life and work?
I try to not be in a position where I don’t have to choose between the two. I never let myself get so backed up in work I have to forgo something personal that I value, like exercise or time with my family. Again, it comes down to having the right team.
Greg Flynn, multi-unit franchisee of Taco Bell, Panera Bread, Arby’s, and Applebee’s

How would you describe your passion in business?
Amy Legg: Developing others and positively affecting their lives.
Kellie Watts: I love to see what I can do to cut expenses.

How do you balance life and work?
Amy: Hiring more people to do the daily tasks so I can focus on strategy and enjoying life more.
Kellie: I’m not so good at that right now. I was better when I was not self-employed!
Amy Legg and Kellie Watts, multi-unit franchisees of Wild Birds Unlimited

How would you describe your passion in business?
Making a difference in people’s lives. Fundraising for schools. Being able to build something for my family’s future.

How do you balance life and work?
We try to take at least two full-week vacations every year, one with the entire family (in-laws and parents) and one with just the wife and myself.
Matt Fultz, multi-unit franchisee of Kona Ice
