Multi-Unit Franchisee Insight - Passion In Business & Balancing Life And Work

We talk to successful multi-unit operators regularly here at Franchise Update Media. These busy on-the-go people share great insight and wisdom with us through our profile stories in Multi-Unit Franchisee magazine. Here, from our archives, are some insightful responses from some of these franchisees.

What's your passion in business?
Through franchising with Freddy's and Panera, I have the opportunity every single day to make a positive impact on many lives. Knowing that I am associated with two restaurant concepts where people absolutely love the food and look forward to visiting is what fuels my passion for what I do. I don't want to let them down.

How do you balance life and work?
Frankly, I was much better at balancing life and work when my kids still lived at home. I strived to rarely sacrifice the time I spent with my family and children for work. Now that my kids are not around as much, I find myself struggling to balance life and work. Fortunately, my wife is also a go-getter and is often helping with our Freddy's business, which allows us to spend time together. She also does an excellent job of making sure I am balancing life and work by taking it upon herself to schedule social time, fun time, vacations, and more for us. If it were not for her, I would struggle even more with balancing life and work.
Mike Young, multi-unit franchisee of Panera Bread and Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

What's your passion in business?
Patti: My passion is to help our employees remain passionate about their careers. We want to give them the tools to be successful.
John: We also see this as an opportunity to serve God. We named our business Kingdom Business Inc. to help us remember whom we are serving.

How do you balance life and work?
Patti: It is very difficult to balance life and work, but we make it happen. We plan family vacations and we get away for several weeks each year. Our positions allow us enough flexibility to be able to work anywhere. We try to make it to our grandchildren's activities because family comes first.
John and Patricia "Patti" Prichard, multi-unit franchisees of Fantastic Sams and Camille Albane
