What makes you passionate about investing?

Obviously, the financial returns can be very motivating. But if that is the only factor that keeps you engaged, you might want to rethink your priorities — especially if you are considering franchise investing.

Like any investment, franchises pose plenty of risk. On top of that, they also require a level of hard work and hands-on involvement that other avenues may not. Day in and day out, you will be rolling up your sleeves, making tough decisions, and immersing yourself in the business.

With this being the reality, even an extremely profitable opportunity can end up feeling like drudgery if you aren’t passionate about your franchisor’s offering and overall mission.

In fact, studies show that happiness makes people more productive.

When the going gets tough, you won’t want to throw in the towel. Instead, you will feel extra motivated to keep pressing onward. Then, after a hard day’s work, you will leave feeling refreshed and accomplished — not drained and exhausted. You will have more left over in the tank when the day is done, and you can be sure your family and friends will appreciate that. I know mine do.

Working in an industry that I love has made all the difference in my career and personal life. I’ve turned my passion for exercise into a lifetime of learning, growth, fun, and stability. I started out by cleaning gym equipment in a local health club, and because of my passion I’ve made it to where I am today with “relatively” little stress along the way.

Your business should support your life and unlock the door to fulfillment. It should not be the barrier that prevents you from living your life and loving every minute of it. If you are going to invest in a franchise for the long haul, it’s in your best interest to care deeply about the company’s cause.

Don’t be swayed by savvy sales pitches that claim financial returns as the sole goal and benefit of the investment. Instead, follow your heart. Partner with a brand that aligns with your personal passions.
