American Freight Franchise Owners Reflect on Their Decision to Join
Company Reports 28% Increase in New Franchise Agreements Awarded in 2022
American Freight Furniture, Mattress and Appliance, a leading national retailer offering in-store and online access to furniture, mattresses and appliances at discount prices, ended 2022 with 23 new franchise agreements awarded—an 28% increase from the previous year. The company also opened three new franchise locations with 36 more in development.
The new franchise owners include board-certified orthopedic surgeon Troy Caron who was awarded three locations in Missouri and has already opened the first in Poplar Bluff.
“I’m at the point in my career where I want to plan for my future,” said Caron. “I came across American Freight’s franchise opportunity and saw significant value driven by strong unit economics, an experienced and trusted management team, and the opportunity to scale my business with American Freight beyond these three stores.”

In addition, Jimmy and Jennifer Day were awarded seven locations in Texas—the largest agreement of the year. Jimmy is a multi-unit owner and operator of businesses spanning the automotive, real estate, charter jet, hospitality and furniture industries.
“American Freight is a natural addition to my portfolio of investments,” said Day. “The franchise model is conducive to minimal oversight and impressive returns, which fits my business objectives as an owner and operator of several other companies.”
Greg Canzano, one of the first franchise owners to sign with the company, was awarded an additional store in Georgia.
“The company’s proven business model that comes with more than 25 years in the industry is a competitive advantage in the marketplace,” said Canzano. “But rather than just relying on its legacy, the company continues to innovate new revenue drivers and strategize marketplace share that will positively impact the future of the company—that’s why I was an early adopter of the franchise program and invested in another location.”

American Freight also earned recognition from Entrepreneur Magazine as a 2022 Top New and Emerging Franchise and was ranked in the publication’s annual Franchise 500.
“The interest in our franchise program continues to compound each year, and the momentum is already carrying into 2023,” said Terry McGee, Vice President of Franchise Development. “Our semi-absentee, quick-to-open and highly scalable model resonates with candidates, and the profitability is a universal appeal.”
