“Success comes down to two factors: a proven model and lots of hard work,” says Cliff Clark, who alongside his wife, Diane, opened the first Discovery Point in 1988 in the Atlanta area. “In the early years, it was up to Diane and me to put in the long hours to find what worked in bringing education to childcare and childcare into franchising. It’s from our experience that we wrote the policies and procedures that are the foundation of our model.”

“With owners active in their own success, we were able to focus on building a strong corporate support system including marketing, Quality Assurance, and continued training,” remarks Clark. “We still, today, refer to our owners as franchise partners, because of the success we can achieve by working together. “

With a nationally-recognized instructional approach in place and unrivaled franchise support, Discovery Point is gearing up for the next 30 years with a promising future aimed at growth. In 2019, the first international center will open in China, as well as bolstering a vibrant U.S. franchise program that includes growth in both existing and new markets. “We will continue expansion in North Carolina, Florida, and Texas,” notes Clark, who adds, “the brand is also exploring design options to refresh and remodel older centers as well.
The brand also continues to build on the strong partnerships between each center and the families they serve through increased communication strategies and family outreach events.
“Parents are working longer hours and stay continually connected to their work environment,” Clark says. “We want our centers to be a place where the children and their families are not only connecting to the teachers and staff, but to each other. By staying a step ahead and anticipating the needs, we ensure that our families are getting the best for their children.”
For Clark the success of Discovery Point is a great source of personal pride that also honors his late wife, Diane, whose passion and love for younger children inspired the brand’s vision to go beyond basic care to provide a true education of the whole child.
“At the center level, our owners, teachers and staff become part of each family. They care and educate children through celebrations and struggles,” says Clark. “At the corporate level, I am especially proud to realize how many individuals, couples, and families have seen financial success through business ownership. Seeing owners flourish, renew their franchise agreements, or sell and retire comfortably gives me great joy and the satisfaction of a job well done. “
