Marugame Udon Offers Investors A Successful Brand Steeped In Tradition, Authenticity, and Experience

The history of the udon noodle goes back centuries and the mastering of noodle making is at the core of Marugame Udon.  Tradition and authenticity are often words that are thrown about and used in sometimes a too easily way when it comes to ethnic restaurants.  But with Marugame Udon, these words are truly the foundation of this exciting, energetic, and high volume concept.  

For the ‘tradition’ part, Marugame Udon was born in the heart of the origins of udon noodle making, the Kagawa Prefecture in the southern part of the Islands of Japan, opening its first restaurant over two decades ago in Kakogawa City just south of Osaka.  Immediately it became a favorite of the local crowd and with the great response and dedication to the original tenets of the restaurant, the company has grown to over 1,000 restaurants in 13 countries across the globe, including the United States.  The founder, Takaya Awata, is still the President and leader of Marugame Udon as well as the 9 other brands and over 1,700 restaurants worldwide.  His company, Toridoll Holdings Corporation, based in Tokyo, is now an internationally recognized and respected restaurant company with a goal of becoming one of the top ten restaurant brands by 2025, with up to 6,000 total restaurants.  

As for the ‘authenticity’ part, each Marugame Udon makes fresh udon noodles daily in an open, exhibition kitchen using wheat flour flown in regularly from Japan, and made with traditional noodle making, rolling, cutting, and cooking equipment imported from Japan as well.  Recipes for the broths, the tempura batter, and all other menu items on Marugame Udon’s menu remain true to the authentic ingredients and methods of preparation used in all Marugame Udon restaurants.
