Pizzeria Halt Set to Expand One-of-Kind Vegan Franchise Opportunity
Bold, emerging franchise Pizzeria Halt is uniquely poised to take a healthy bite out of the lucrative pizza industry.
The West Coast-based brand—the world’s first all-vegan pizza concept—recently launched franchising with an eye on growth and a global mission to serve up a delicious and affordable version of the fan-favorite, plant-based style.
“Our kitchen is 100 percent animal product-free, says Sambit Duttaroy, founder of Pizzeria Halt. “We like to say it’s a healthy alternative pizza delivered with love.”
Duttaroy, who has a background in marketing, opened his flagship Modesto, California Pizzeria Halt location last January to bridge the gap between people’s affection for pizza and the related health issues that come for some who consume animal products.
It didn’t take long for the entrepreneur to know he was on to something big when customers began showing up from 40 miles away for pie slices made with the highest quality plant-based ingredients. Restaurant sales have continued to soar throughout the pandemic for the take-out and delivery-friendly brand.
Pizzeria Halt taps into two explosive industry trends: pizza and a vegan lifestyle, practiced by millions of people who abstain from eating meat, meat-derived products, eggs, and dairy for health or personal reasons.
U.S. pizza restaurant sales exceeded $46 billion in 2020, according to statista.com. But for folks like Duttaroy, who is lactose intolerant, the junk food staple is off-limits. He conceived the idea for Pizzeria Halt after listening to a healthcare conference discussion on the benefits of a vegan diet for general health, particularly for those with cancer.
Pizzeria Halt’s competitive edge starts in the 100 percent vegan kitchen, with no animal products, animal by-products, or frozen meat to be found. It’s a value-added feature for vegans, who can be assured the food is safe from the possibility of cross-contamination.
The restaurant menu features a creative take on pizza, appetizers, and salad using fresh produce, plant-based meats, and bold fusions of Indian, American, and even Mexican flavors, notes Duttaroy, who created the original recipes with his team.
The brand’s proprietary oven technology results in vegan pizza with a Neapolitan-style crust finish.
“There’s no need to have a special cook or chef,” notes Duttaroy, who moved to the U.S. in 2018 from India, where he owned a hotel and a restaurant.
Franchise owners can expect simple operations and an eco-friendly business, designated as Green Business Certified by the California Business Network.
With a proven system of support in place, Pizzeria Halt is gearing up for franchise expansion with international franchise deals in India, Dubai, and Australia. Restaurant development is also planned in the U.S. with sealed franchise deals for additional California, Texas, and Illinois locations.
Pizzeria Halt seeks to grow with business-savvy individuals with a strong work ethic and integrity. The brand also offers a compelling franchise invested company managed option.
“We started this business because of our community,” says Duttaroy. “We felt that the over-processed food served in our area is not what our neighbors deserve. We care for quality and the health of people above all else, and we’re ready to reach every corner of the U.S.”
