Perkins Enters New Era of Strategic National Franchise Growth

There can only be one thing sweeter than a slice of Perkins pie—the brand’s proven business model.

For franchise restaurant operators looking to diversify, Perkins Restaurant & Bakery offers the opportunity to add one of the leading lucrative family dining restaurants to their portfolios. The brand allows investors to simultaneously tap into the $11 billion bakery and $285 billion breakfast food segment, accessing reliable revenue streams across four dayparts.

Perkins has officially launched its national franchise initiative with the goal of significantly expanding its footprint in thriving markets across the country. With 290+ locations open or in development in the United States and Canada, Perkins is actively welcoming hungry investors to partner with. Under the new direction of franchise development expert Peter Ortiz, serving as the concept’s Chief Development Officer, Perkins anticipates rapid multi-unit development nationwide.

Currently, Perkins locations are found across 32 states in a variety of formats including inline, endcap, retrofit and ground-up models with the integration of carry-out windows and patio seating to the layout. These flexible designs allow restaurant owners to easily incorporate a Perkins restaurant location into any space and capitalize on the seamless off-premise dining integration.

Plans for advanced prototype concept innovations are already in the works with restaurant industry renowned design firm Louis & Partners at the helm. With a strong portfolio of work for previous hospitality clients such as Hilton, IHOP and Chili’s, the firm’s team will engineer a modernized look for Perkins that offers additional build-out options for multi-unit franchisees.

“The time is now for expanding with Perkins through franchising. We’ve streamlined store level operations, ramped up the prototype innovation process and strengthened partnerships with third party delivery vendors, so the concept is primed and ready for accelerated expansion,” said Peter Ortiz, Chief Development Officer of Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, a part of Ascent Hospitality Management, which also owns Huddle House. “Data and market analysis have helped to pinpoint areas of interest, guiding our path as we embark on this journey of national franchise development. We look forward to aligning with strong restaurant operators who want to join us during this new growth era for Perkins.”

A quintessential mealtime gathering place, Perkins has engrained itself into the fabric of communities for more than 60 years. As new franchisees enter the system, existing franchise groups such as JDK Management have continued to grow alongside the brand. The largest operating team recently opened its 49th location in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.

With an exceptionally experienced leadership team paving the way, Perkins provides an excellent opportunity for multi-unit operators to break into the full-service industry and join forces with a concept that stands firm in the fast-growing breakfast niche.
