Pearle Vision Eyes Canada for Strategic Franchise Expansion

Pearle Vision Eyes Canada for Strategic Franchise Expansion

Pearle Vision is set to take its proven brand to new heights with plans to expand its international reach in key provinces throughout Canada.

The Mason, Ohio-based trusted eyecare chain’s push to accelerate franchise growth in Canada will build on a robust pipeline already in place. Pearle Vision has 60 locations currently opened in the neighboring North America country, and has targeted Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto as top priorities for new franchise development.

As one of the nation’s top health franchises on the road to expanding as a premium brand, there has never been a better time to be a Pearle Vision franchisee, says Alex Wilkes, general manager of Pearle Vision.

“Our operating model, eyecon, is a key driver for growth amongst our current franchisees. It is designed to maximize efficiencies at each Pearle Vision EyeCare Center – including a turnkey supply chain,” notes Wilkes. “Pearle Vision is the best-kept secret in the optical industry, but the time has arrived for the brand to expand its footprint and there is an unmistakable high-level of interest in the concept. Qualified investors, independent optometrists, and independent optometry practice owners, who appreciate the value of the trust built with the neighborhood EyeCare Center concept, fit very well with Pearle Vision.”

Armed with a game-changing operating model and innovative marketing programs, Pearle Vision is in growth mode, focused on expanding with experienced multi-unit franchisees looking to diversify and build a multi-brand enterprise and skilled optometrists and opticians.

The brand is making it easier than ever for independent eyecare doctors in the U.S. and Canada to make the switch to franchising. Pearle Vision’s Ignite conversion program, rolled out in 2018, allows independent optometry practice owners to receive all the benefits of a franchisee, while maintaining ownership of their location and established patient roster. Practitioners pay royalties only on incremental sales post conversion, with no royalties collected on the medical side of the business, such as revenue from eye exams. In return, franchisees can expect to reap the benefits of a well-established retailer to support further growth of their business.

For independent optometrists—facing mounting cost and operational pressures amid growing industry consolidation—Ignite allows them to do what they love, backed by the power of a premium brand.

“From the turnkey operations model to the market intelligence that comes with being part of a longstanding industry leader, Pearle Vision puts me in position to grow the business each year,” said Dr. Nadia Khan, a Pearle Vision franchisee in the Toronto area. “Being part of the Pearle Vision franchise system gives me a leg up on the competition because of the extensive knowledge, marketing support and Pearle Vision name.”

Pearle Vision’s innovative approach in the evolving vision care industry continues to pay off. The brand has been named to Entrepreneur magazine’s 2019 Franchise 500®—the 11th consecutive year that Pearle Vision has earned the recognition and the 35th year out of 40 the company has been ranked on the competitive list. Pearle Vision has also earned the honor of being the #1 rated optical brand in doctor quality perception by consumers.*

With more than 500 EyeCare Centers located throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, the future looks crystal clear for Pearle Vision. Along with strategic expansion in Canada, the brand looks to bring genuine eye care to more communities in the U.S.  In early 2019, Pearle Vision is positioned to open franchises in cities across Pennsylvania, Illinois, Florida, and Ohio, building on last year’s momentum, with the addition of franchise EyeCare Centers across the U.S., including multiple locations in Florida and California’s booming markets.
